MY NAME IS MEGAN GOBLE, I USE SHE/HER PRONOUNS.
OUR ADVISORY COUNCIL HAS CONTINUED TO ADVANCE OUR MISSION OF FOSTERING AN INCLUSIVE, SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL OF OUR LGBTQ+ STUDENTS. THIS YEAR WE SAW REPRESENTATION FROM 17 SCHOOL SITES, FOUR SUBCOMMITTEES WERE ESTABLISHED AND MAINTAINED AND WE REQUESTED THE DISTRICT UPDATE THE HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE OF OUR LGBTQ+ STUDENTS.
WE HAVE CONTINUED TO HELP OUR SCHOOL SITES CELEBRATE AND RECOGNIZE OCTOBER AS LGBTQ HISTORY MONTH.
AND JUNE AS PRIDE MONTH AND WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CONEJO SCHOOL FOUNDATION WE PRESENTED OUR

PROUD TO BE ME ACTIVITY TO ALL OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SITES.WE HAD A MOVING PANEL DISCUSSION WITH OUR LGBTQ+ HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
WHILE THERE WERE STRENGTHS IDENTIFIED IN OUR DISTRICT, SUCH AS OUR WELLNESS CENTERS, MANY OF THE STUDENTS EXPRESSED THAT TEACHERS ARE NOT DOING ENOUGH TO CALL OUT HOMOPHOBIA OR TRANSPHOBIA WHEN IT ARISES IN THE CLASSROOM. THEY STATED THE TEACHERS, THEIR IMPACT REALLY MATTERS, THEY SHOULD BE A SAFE SPACE.
IN 2025, 2026, WE PLAN TO CONTINUE ADVOCATING FOR AN INCLUSIVE CURRICULUM AND MORE CONSISTENTLY REQUEST FEEDBACK FROM OUR STUDENTS.

A JUNIOR AT THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL AND ASIDE FROM EARNING ACCOLADE AFTER ACCOLADE AFTER ACCOLADE THIS YEAR, HE WAS -- HE AUDITIONED, HE WAS ONE OF 1600 STUDENTS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHO AUDITIONED FOR THE MUSIC CENTER'S ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.
THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR ABOUT 37 YEARS, AND, AGAIN, HUGE NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AUDITION TO BEBE PART OF THIS. IN ROUGHLY MID -- I GUESS EARLY MAY, IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT SERGIO HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED AS ONE OF 115 OR SO SEMIFINALISTS.
THAT IN AND OF ITSELF IS PRETTY SPECTACULAR. $500 SCHOLARSHIP FOR BEING A SEMIFINALIST. BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER.
WE WAIT A COUPLE OF WEEKS, AND LO AND BEHOLD I GET THIS EMAIL FROM THE MUSIC CENTER, LETTING US KNOW THAT SERGIO HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED AS ONE OF THE 14 GRAND FINALISTS IN THE MUSIC CENTER'S PROGRAM.
SO, IN ADDITION TO A $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP, SERGIO WAS ALSO GIVEN THE INVITATION TO PERFORM AT THE THEATER IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES ON JUNE 6TH TO A PACKED HOUSE AND YOU WERE UP ON STAGE, I THINK YOU SAID, WITH A BASSIST.
>> BASSIST AND PIANIST. IT WAS ALL ABOUT HIM.
A PRODIGY PERCUSSIONIST IS JUST -- I CAN'T BEGIN TO EXPLAIN JUST TRULY HOW AMAZING SERGIO IS. I WAS TALKING TO HE AND HIS MOTHER BEFORE THE MEETING STARTED AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT HE HAD BEEN INVITED TO THE VALE JAZZ WORKSHOP THIS SUMMER AND THAT IDENTIFIES HIM AS ONE OF THE TOP TWO PERCUSSIONISTS IN THE NATION.
SO HE'LL BE HEADING OFF TO VALE IN JULY IN ADDITION TO NEW YORK CITY FOR A WHILE, JUST HOBNOBBING WITH NEW YORK'S ELITE. AND LEARNING HOW TO EVEN HONE HIS CRAFT EVEN MORE. AND THE SURPRISING THING IS THAT, AGAIN, HE'S ONLY A JUNIOR.
HE'S COMING BACK FOR ONE MORE YEAR AND WE ARE DELIGHTED TO HAVE HIM. I'M INCREDIBLY PROUD OF HIM.

MY JOURNEY, I STARTED IN MARCH 2021 AS A 13-YEAR- OLD OVER AT KHALIAH WHOSE GOAL CAME TO ACHIEVE THIS POSITION AND I APPLIED FOR SDAD AND INTERVIEWED AND AS AN EIGHTH GRADER, I PITCHED MYSELF AS SOMEONE WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO BRING IN THE UNDERCLASSMEN PERSPECTIVE AND VOICE.
AND HOW IT IS A TRANSITION TO OUR HIGH SCHOOLS AND I WAS REJECTED. AND SO I TRIED AGAIN IN JANUARY 2022 WHEN A POSITION OPENED UP. STILL A FRESHMAN, SIMILAR AGENDA, SIMILAR PLATFORM, AND I WAS REJECTED.
TWICE. BUT WHEN I APPLIED TO SDAK IN MARCH 2022, APPLYING FOR MY OF SO SOPHOMORE YEAR, GOING IN, NO PREP, NO PLATFORM, GENUINE INTERVIEW, I WAS ACCEPTED AND THAT APRIL I WAS NAMED CHAIR OF THE BUDGET SUBCOMMITTEE AND THEN THE NEXT NEXT THE MEMBER AT LARGE. THE NEXT I WAS VOTED SDAK CHAIRPERSON, THE MEETING I RAN WAS BETWEEN TWO HOSPITAL STAYS FOR LIFE THREATENING PNEUMONIA AND THERE WEARING A RISK, BARELY ABLE TO BREATHE AND DELIVERING MY SPEECH TO RUN.

I WILL GET STARTED WITH NUMBERS, PARTICIPATION, IN ELEMENTARY IT AVERAGES 39% OF STUDENTS, MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUGHLY 40, HIGH SCHOOL, 30. THROUGHOUT THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR WE SERVED OVER 800,000 BREAKFASTS AND OVER 1.1 MILLION LUNCHES. SOME OF THE FAVORITE MENU ITEMS FOR ELEMENTARY WERE WAFFLE BREAKFAST BOWL, PROTEIN PASTA WITH MEAT SAUCE, POPCORN CHICKEN, BEAN AND CHEESE BURRITO. GRILL CHEESE. MAPLE PANCAKES, CHEESE BURGER, CHICKEN SANDWICH, ORANGE CHICKEN AND RICE BOWL, BACON CLUB SANDWICH AND QUESADILLA. WITH THE HELP OF KIM AND ELON WE DEVELOPED A NUTRITION SERVICE LOGO, IT WILL GO ON UNIFORMS, ANY SOCIAL MEDIA, AND SOME EQUIPMENT. AN EXAMPLE OF THAT WOULD BE OUR SHARE TABLES WE WERE ABLE TO ROLL OUT AT THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR, THEY ARE PLACED AT THE END OF SERVING LINES TO HOPEFULLY CAPTURE UNWANTED FOOD ITEMS FROM STUDENTS TO DIVERT THEM FROM THE TRASH, GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE AT BEING CONSUMED BY ANOTHER STUDENT. STUDENT TASTE TEST, I WAS NOT SURE IF WE WOULD GET TO THEM THIS YEAR BUT WITHIN MY FIRST FEW DAYS I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM A STUDENT AT GLENWOOD SIGNED BY ALL OF HIS CLASSMATES ADDRESSED TO THE PEOPLE WHO DECIDE WHAT IS ON THE MENU. HE WAS ASKING FOR CRESCENTS TO BE ADED TO THE MENU. I KNEW THERE WAS A WHOLE GRAIN HAM AND SWIS CHEESE CRESCENT, WHICH IS REALLY GOOD, MODELED OFF THE ONE THEY SERVE AT STARBUCKS, SO WE WENT OUT TO GLENWOOD AND IT WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DAYS SEEING THAT STUDENT COME OUT AND REALIZE THERE WE WERE AND WE HAD CRESSONERS. THAT WAS SPECIAL. WE HAD THE CHANCE TO SAMPLE A VEGAN AND GLUTEN FREE BLACK BEAN TAQUITO, THE TASTE TESTS WENTWELL. THE ITEMS WILL BE ON THE MENU NEXT YEAR. SUMMER MEALS HAVE KICKED OFF ON THAT FLIER, POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THOSE MEALS AND LOCATIONS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, SUMMER SCHOOL MEALS SERVED AT THE SCHOOLS PARTICIPATING IN SUMMER SCHOOL ARE CLOSED CAMPUSES, ONLY OPENED TO THOSE STUDENTS. AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, THOSE STUDENTS EXPERIENCED THE DISRUPTION OF COVID DURING THEIR KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST-GRADE YEARS. IT SEEMS A LITTLE DAUNTING AT THE BEGINNING TO THINK I AM GOING TO ALL THESE GRADUATIONS AND SIT IN THE HOT IS SUN IN A BLACK ROBE BUT IT IS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. I WANT TO THANK ALL THE PRINCIPALS WHO WELCOMED US AND MADE IT VERY EASY FOR US TO PARTICIPATE. AS MENTIONED, THE SPEECHES WERE BRILLIANT, THE PERFORMANCES WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING,ER AND IT REALLY JUST WAS JOYOUS, THAT IS PRETTY MUCH ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THAT. MCLACHLAN. >> AS WE CONCLUDED LAST WEEK FROM SUPERINTENDENT'S PERSPECTIVE, THERE IS A LOT OF WORK THAT GOES IN TO THAT 180-DAYS OF SCHOOL, BUT THE LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL AND ALL THE PROMOTIONS AND GRADUATIONS AND EVERYTHING ARE TAKING PLACE FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, IT WAS A GREAT WEEK AND A LOT OF THANKS GO OUT TO ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES WHO SET UP CHAIRS, TAKE DOWN CHAIRS, MOVED CHAIRS TO ANOTHER SCHOOL, SET UP SOUND SYSTEMS, MOVED SOUND SYSTEMS, SET UP AT ANOTHER SCHOOL, IT IS A CONTINUOUS WEEK OF MOTION AND MOVEMENT AND THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO COORDINATE THOSE THINGS BUT THEY-- IT WOULDN'T GO UNNOTICED IF WE DIDN'T POINT OUT THE HARD WORK THAT GOES IN TO SETTING THOSE UP. SO OFTEN WE JUST GET TO SEE THE EXCITEAL PART. THERE IS SO MUCH BEHIND THE SCENES THAT GET DONE, SO THAT WE SEE THE GOOD STUFF. SO, SHOUTOUT TO EVERYBODY.
