IT IS WITH GREAT PRIDE THAT I RECOGNIZE THREE OUTSTANDING STUDENTS TONIGHT THAT HAVE RECEIVED PRESTIGIOUS HONORS IN THE FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA EIGHT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE. SO, OVERALL WE HAVE 20 WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL NUMBERS THE FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA WITH THE STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE BACK IN MID APRIL IN ANAHEIM. THEY COMPETED IN VARIOUS BUSINESS EVENT. THEY ATTENDED WORKSHOPS WITH BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS, OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS ENGAGE IN THAT CONFERENCE. THERE WERE OVER 3000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE AT THIS EVENT. THERE WERE THREE STUDENTS FROM WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL IN FIRST PLACE. THE WEBSITE CODING AND DEVELOPMENT PORTION OF IT, AND THEN ALSO, SECOND PLACE IN THE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AT THIS PRESTIGIOUS CONFERENCE. UNFORTUNATELY, THESE STUDENTS ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND OUR MEETING TONIGHT TO RECEIVE THE RECOGNITION, BUT WE WANTED TO ANNOUNCE THEM DURING THE MEETING ANYWAY. WE HAVE BEEN NEGOTIATING WITH THE DISTRICT PERSONNEL WITH PROP 39 APPLICATION IN THE FINAL OFFER PROVIDED BY THE DISTRICT, THE MAP AND SPREADSHEET ONLY IDENTIFIES 19 CLASSROOMS, HOWEVER THE DISTRICT IS FOR 21 CLASSROOMS FOR TEACHING STATION SPACE. ADDITIONALLY, THE DISTRICT APPEARS TO HAVE ALLOCATED ONE ADDITIONAL PORTABLE CLASSROOM AS PART OF THE DISTRICT SPACE THAT WOULD INSTALL AN EXPENSE.

THIS WOULD ONLY RING THE ALLOCATION OF THE SPACE. THE DOUBLE CLASSROOM PORTABLE IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT THE DISTRICT ALLOCATION OF SPACE IS REASONABLY EQUIVALENT AND MAKE SURE IT IS ABLE TO TAKE ON THE COST OF THIS INSTALLATION. WE WERE TOLD A COUPLE OF THINGS. THIS IS ALL THAT THE BOARD HAS APPROVED AND SECOND, THAT THE STUDENTS THAT RESIDE IN THE CHARTER SCHOOLS IN THIS AREA ARE STUDENTS. I WOULD ARGUE THAT THOSE STUDENTS BELONG TO NEITHER WILL THEY ACTUALLY ENROLL. I WILL REMIND YOU WHEN THE CAMPUS WAS CLOSED BY THE DISTRICT. THE NEIGHBORHOOD HAD AN AGING POPULATION AND MEADOWS HAD DECLINING ENROLLMENT. OUR CHARTER IS SPECIFIC WITH THE FORMER BOUNDARIES SET SO THE NEIGHBORHOOD COULD HAVE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS. SINCE THE INTRODUCTION 15 YEARS AGO, THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE FORMER COMMUNITY HAS CHANGED AND MANY OF THE CURRENT PRESIDENTS ACTUALLY MOVE THERE FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO HAVE ALREADY. THIS ALSO BENEFITS THE DISTRICT AS THE STUDENTS TYPICALLY MATRICULATE BACK TO THE DISTRICT FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL. ALWAYS NEGOTIATED WITH THE DISTRICT IN GOOD FAITH AND WOULD ENJOY OUR PARTNERSHIP. IN FACT, THE FESTIVAL THAT YOU ENJOYED LAST WEEK WAS PRODUCED BY THE MUSIC DIRECTOR. MANY OF THE LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS HAVE VISITED OUR CAMPUS WITH SOME UNIQUE MISSIONS WE HAVE MADE INCLUDING THE MULTIMEDIA BOOTH. THIS IS WHAT CHARTERS ARE INTENDED TO BE. MY OLDEST GRADUATED FROM NEWBERRY PARK HIGH SCHOOL. MY MIDDLE CHILD ATTENDED AND IS A SOPHOMORE AT WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL. MY YOUNGEST IS CURRENTLY ATTENDING AS A SEVENTH GRADE STUDENT AND WILL ATTEND WITH LAKE SCHOOL.

OUTSTANDING READINESS TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGES OF MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL AND CONTRIBUTE WITH THE ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC SUCCESSES. WHEN FAMILIES MOVE INTO THE FOOTPRINT, FAMILIES MOVING TO THE DISTRICT BUT . STUDENTS BECOME DISTRICT STUDENTS IN THIS INFLUX OF STUDENTS INTO THE DISTRICT IS A SIGNIFICANT ASSET PARTICULARLY IN LIGHT OF DECLINING ENROLLMENT. I HEARD AN UPDATE ON THE ENROLLMENT THAT WE CONTINUE TO ACHIEVE. THERE WAS DISCUSSION ABOUT THE TREMENDOUS CARE ATTENDING TO MAKING SURE THAT WE HAVE MAINTAINED THE 50-50 BALANCE OF SPANISH DOMINANT AND ENGLISH DOMINANT STUDENTS AND FAMILIES. THE MUSIC FESTIVAL ON NEXT WEEK WITH THE CHOIRS WITH THE VARIOUS CLUSTERS FOUR NIGHTS OF SPECTACULAR MUSIC AND TREMENDOUS PRIDE AND TREMENDOUS GRATITUDE FOR ALL OF THE MUSIC EDUCATORS WHO WORK SO HARD IN THE VOLUNTEERS YOU PUT ON THE TREMENDOUS PROGRAM THAT IS WITHOUT ANY. IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. LAST WEEK WAS ALSO A WEEK AND I WAS INCREDIBLY HONORED TO DO A COUPLE OF ASSEMBLY PRESENTATIONS ON FRIDAY. THE ONE AT MADERA ON THURSDAY WHERE THEY TALKED ABOUT P 22, THE KITTEN THAT WAS WORN IN THE SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS AND IS A CHILD OF THE PLACE THAT WE CALL HOME. TRAINING AND THEY DID SO MUCH BETTER THAN I. IT WAS INCREDIBLE TO HEAR THESE KIDS DESCRIBE THE SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPRESSIVE EVENTS THAT WE HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO ATTEND ARE THE UNIFIED GAMES. LAST FRIDAY WE WENT TO WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL. LAST FRIDAY WE WENT TO WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL AND WATCH THE UNIFIED SOCCER GAMES. IT WAS INCREDIBLE SEEING THE KIDS WITH THEIR COACHES AND ASSISTANTS.

THE PARENTS THAT WERE THERE TO CHEER THEM ON. THE WESTLAKE KIDS FROM THE BLEACHERS. USUALLY IT IS ON THE KIDS THAT ARE ON THE FIELD THAT ARE IN THE BLEACHERS CHEERING THE ATHLETES ON HERE THIS WAS A REVERSAL OF THAT AND IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO SEE THEIR EXCITEMENT AND THREE GAMES

GOING ON AT ONCE. >> I HAVE TO COMMEND MR. BRAND HAM FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE PROGRAM. HIGH SCHOOL'S FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA STUDENTS THAT WERE RECOGNIZED TONIGHT. THERE IS A LOT TO CELEBRATE.

I'M NOT GOING TO LIST THEM ALL. THEY HAVE ENLISTED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO ACKNOWLEDGING ALL OF THESE THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. HERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ATTEND IN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. I ALSO ATTENDED THE STEAM FAMILY NIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE WERE A PANEL ON THIS EVENT. IT WAS REALLY, REALLY A GREAT NIGHT. IT WAS A GREAT DISPLAY OF STUDENT INQUIRY AND RENOVATION. AS WAS SAID, THEY WERE SO GREAT AT TALKING THROUGH THE RESEARCH.

IT WAS A RESEARCH PROJECT OR THE INVENTION. I LOVE SEEING THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, AS WELL. INTO THE WAS AT A THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL, YOU ALL WERE GREAT. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, IT IS A TOUGH SHOW. SONDHEIM IS AMAZING, THERE IS NO WAY I WAS MISSING THE SHOW. EVERYTHING FROM THE LIVE ORCHESTRA, WHICH WAS MOSTLY STUDENTS, TO THE ACTORS, TO THE COSTUMES AND LIGHTS AND SOUNDS WAS AMAZING. I ATTENDED IT LAST WEEK. IT WAS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL. NO, WE ARE 10 YEARS IN YET, THERE IS SO MUCH EXCITEMENT TALKING ABOUT ALL OF THESE PROJECTS GOING ON AT CAMPUSES. IT WAS REALLY FUN TO FEEL THAT AS PART OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING AND THEN JUST THAT EXCITEMENT THAT EVERYBODY HAS.

SO, TO BE ABLE TO WALK THROUGH WHAT IS GOING TO BE HAPPENING THIS SUMMER. A PAVILION OFF OF THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM AND A NEW MUSIC ROOM. SO, REALLY EXCITING. OF COURSE, AS MENTIONED, MORE DISTRICT MUSIC FESTIVAL CONCERTS TO ATTEND.

THIS TIME THE COURSE. THE FINAL ASSESSMENT CUT THE EXTREME JOY OF WATCHING THE TRUSTEES PERFORM. SHE MADE AN AMAZING AARON BREWER. IT IS REALLY, REALLY AMAZING TO WATCH THOSE MEETINGS. SO,, KEEP IT GOING, STUDENTS. RESIDENT GOLDBERG MAY SAY MORE ABOUT THIS. BUT WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TOUR THE WELLNESS CENTER WITH JEFF CORRELL. KEY STAFF WAS THERE.

HOW TO COMPUTE THAT IS TAKE THE BOND AMOUNT AND ADD THE TOTAL INTEREST WE PAY ON THAT BOND AMOUNT AND DIVIDE THAT BY -- WHEN WE COMPUTE THAT CALCULATION ON THE BOND ISSUE, A REPAYMENT ISSUE OF 1.5, WHICH IS WELL BELOW THE RATIO SET BY THE STATE. BECAUSE OF OUR HIGH CREDIT RATING, INVESTORS ARE WILLING TO PAY MORE THAN THE AMOUNT OF BONDS WE OFFER FOR SALE. THIS YEAR WE HAVE MORE STUDENTS THAN WE EVER HAD IN THE PAST TO TAKE THE AP TEST TO CHALLENGE THEMSELVES. WE ARE REALLY EXCITED FOR THAT. EXPLORATIONS IS A NEW CLASS THAT WE JUST APPROVED THIS YEAR. PREVIOUSLY IT WAS CALLED COMPUTER PROGRAMMING. WE ARE CONSTANTLY WORKING IT. I THINK I AM PRESENTING THE PROGRAM SO FAR. RIGHT? WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE ALWAYS A WORK IN PROGRESS. >> GENERALLY. I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE TIME SURE FLUCTUATES. AT THIS POINT, ESPECIALLY AFTER COVID, THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT DURING COVID ITSELF WHERE RECRUITMENT WAS CHALLENGING AT THE TIME GETTING PEOPLE OPPORTUNITIES AND LETTING THEM KNOW WHAT IT WAS LIKE WITH THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR BEING SO UP IN THE AIR ANYWAY THERE WERE CHALLENGES WITH THAT. WE HAVE SEEN RANGES BETWEEN 45 TO 50 APPLICATIONS AND THEN SLIGHTLY FEWER APPLICATIONS I THINK THERE ARE A LOT MORE STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN IT AND WOULD ENJOY IT. THEY WOULD BE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THAT WOULD BE QUICK TO SIGN UP VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT THEY HAPPEN TO BE DOING. WE TRY TO COMBAT THAT WHICH AS WE CAN. IF WE ARE IN A SITUATION WHERE WE HAVE 30 APPLICATIONS AND 30 POTENTIAL SPOTS, MORE OF A PROCESS OF SITTING DOWN WITH A STUDENT AND A COUNSELOR IN COMMUNICATING WITH PARENTS, AS WELL. TAKING A LOOK AT WHAT IT IS THEY ARE INTERESTED IN. ONE OF THE CHALLENGES OF COORDINATING A PROGRAM LIKE THAT, THERE ARE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES AND PATHWAYS FOR SUCCESS USUALLY WHAT ENDS UP HAPPENING, I MAY TELL PEOPLE WE NEED TO WAIT A LITTLE BIT HERE TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. I NEED TO MEET THE GRANT REQUIREMENTS.

USUALLY A LOT OF PEOPLE MIGHT FIND THAT THERE OTHER PATHWAYS THAT MAY BE MORE DIRECTLY RELATED THAT MAYBE THEY DID NOT EVEN REALIZE ROUTE THERE. WE CAN MORE DISTRIBUTE. THERE ARE A LOT OF PARENTS AS IT AP STUDENTS THAT ARE ALREADY IN THAT FULL HONORS TRACK EVERY YEAR THERE AT LEAST THREE OR FOUR APPLICATIONS WITH A STUDENT LOADED INTERESTED IN EVERYTHING. THEY GO TO THE SCHEDULES TOGETHER. YOU KNOW? THERE ARE ONLY SOME THE OPTIONS.
