MOTION CARRIES 5-0. WE ARE NOW AT ITEM 2D FOR STUDENT RECOGNITION WE HAVE SEVERAL TEAMS FROM THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL. FIRST IS THE 2024 LEE CO. CHAMPIONS, BOYS BASKETBALL.

AND THE PUBLIC AS WELL AS OUR MEMBERS OF THE CABINET. I AM THE PRINCIPAL OF THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL. IT BRINGS A GREAT PLEASURE TO BE BACK IN ORDER TO RECOGNIZE SOME OF OUR AMAZING STUDENTS AT THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL. TONIGHT, WE ARE HONORING SEVERAL TEAMS FROM OUR WINTER SPORTS SEASON.

BEFORE I INTRODUCE THESE TEAMS, I WANT TO POINT OUT ONE THING.

THIS PAST WINTER SEASON HAS BEEN, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE MOST SINGLE SUCCESSFUL ATHLETIC SEASON OUR SCHOOL HAS EVER SEEN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. WE HAD THREE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS THAT CAME OUT OF OUR WINTER SPORTS.

WE HAVE FOUR OF OUR TEAMS THAT MADE THE PRESIDENT OF THE PLANT. WE PRODUCED EIGHT CIF CHAMPION BUT EVEN THE TEAMS THAT DID NOT MAKE THEIR WAY INTO THE CIF TOURNAMENT , THEY WERE VASTLY IMPROVED FROM YEARS PAST BUT I'M INCREDIBLY PROUD OF OUR ATHLETES AND COACHES ARE JOINING ME TONIGHT, HELPING CANDLE CERTIFICATES IS MITOTIC DIRECTOR. I'M GOING TO GIVE THIS TO YOU, KEN. WE HAVE OUR BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM WHO WORK OR CHAMPIONS OF THE LEAGUE. THEY MADE A DEEP RUN INTO THE PLAYOFFS AND WERE FINALISTS IN THE CIF TOURNAMENT . THIS YEAR, A NUMBER OF -- FROM SYCAMORE CANYON PARTICIPATED IN THE COLLEGE DEBATE TRY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT IN PASADENA -- THAT IS A VERY ELITE PRIVATE SCHOOL. THERE WERE 19 SCHOOLS IN ATTENDANCE AND 106 TEAMS WITH 298 INDIVIDUAL CONTENDERS. OUR THREE SCHOOLS COMPETED AGAINST THESE PRIVATE SCHOOLS. POLYTECH, HARVARD WESTLAKE, CAMPBELL HALL, OAKWOOD, AND THE LIKE. -- THEY WON FIRST PLACE IN THE TOURNAMENT OUT OF 19 SCHOOLS.

AND -- WON THE FIRST SPEAKER AWARD OUT OF 298 SPEAKERS. IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN AND I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE AMAZING CHRISTIE AND WHO RUNS THE DEBATE PROGRAM AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY THAT ALLOWS OTHER SCHOOLS TO COMPETE IN TOURNAMENTS LIKE THIS. I WANT TO RECOGNIZE THE FABULOUS WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE CLUB WHOSE MEMBERS HAVE BEEN VOLUNTEERING TO COACH THE LOW CERRITOS TEAM. THEY DO NOT HAVE A TEAM DEDICATED TO DEBATE AND THEIR TEAM JUST STARTED LAST YEAR. WHAT THEY'VE ACCOMPLISHED IN ONE SHORT YEAR IS REMARKABLE. MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES COULD NOT SAY ENOUGH GREAT RINGS ABOUT THE WORRIERS . OVER AND ABOVE EFFORTS AND DEDICATION THAT ENABLED THEM TO COME OUT ON TOP. NO CHANGE PROPOSED FOR 2024-25 FOR WHAT THE LUNCH COST IS BUT IT DOES NOT MATTER ANYWAY BECAUSE IT IS , STUDENTS DO NOT PAY A FEE FOR SCHOOL LUNCH. THERE ARE SOME CHANGES TO THE A LA CARTE MENU. THE CHANGES AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL , THEY ARE MAINLY RELATED TO STAFFING. WE ARE STILL HAVING A TOUGH TIME STAFFING OUR CAFETERIAS, ESPECIALLY ON CERTAIN HIGH ABSENCE DAYS. IN ORDER TO HAVE A REAL A LA CARTE MENU, YOU HAVE TO HAVE TWO PEOPLE THERE. THE ONE INDIVIDUAL DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO HANDLE BOTH THE WAY , AND TO MOVE THE SCHOOL LUNCH LINE IN A TIMELY MANNER WHERE KIDS HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO EAT. SO WE SHIFTED TO HAVING SOME ICE CREAM TREATS ONE DAY A WEEK OR PERIODICALLY OR AS MUCH AS WE CAN SO THE KIDS GET SOME TREAT. WE WILL STILL OFFER ADDITIONAL MILK IF STUDENTS WANT TO PURCHASE THAT. AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL, THE CHANGES YOU SEE IS THEY STRUCK OUT THE MINI MUFFINS ARE THE REASON FOR THAT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE OFFERED DURING THE BREAKFAST PART. THEY ARE NOT NECESSARILY SELLING ANYMORE ON THE LUNCH PART IF THEY ARE HAVING A BAGEL DURING A NUTRITION BREAK OR FOR BREAKFAST.

THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF PARTICIPATION BECAUSE THE OFFERING WAS LIMITED BECAUSE THE CAFETERIA STAFF WAS BUSY AT THE REGISTER CHECKING THE KIDS OUT. SO THERE COULD BE ADDITIONAL PARTICIPATION. IT IS THE MECHANISMS HAVE NOT BEEN THERE BECAUSE OF STAFFING.
