WELCOME TO THE PODIUM. >> THANK YOU AND GOOD EVENING PRESIDENT GILL, TRUSTEES, PRESIDENT LOUGHLIN.

MY NAME IS LEANNE AND IS MY HONOR TO SHARE THE DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL. THANK YOU FOR THE INVITATION TO GIVE A REPORT ON BEHALF OF JACK. THE DAC EXECUTIVE BOARD MET IN AUGUST PLAN FOR OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR AND DURING THE PLANNING MEETING THE EXECUTIVE BOARD UPDATED THE THREE PRIORITIES THAT WE DEVELOP LAST YEAR TO GUIDE OUR WORK AS DAC. THE FIRST PRIORITY IS ACHIEVEMENT AND OVERALL SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS.

THIS MAY SEEMED LIKE AN OBVIOUS PRIORITY FOR AN ADVISORY GROUP MADE OF THE PARENTS, WE FEEL IT'S IMPORTANT TO SPOTLIGHT STUDENT OUTCOMES. NEXT THE SUPPORTING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING IN SCHOOLWIDE MENTAL HEALTH BY ENHANCING CONNECTIONS IN CAMPUS CULTURE. THIS YEAR WE WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THE SUPPORTING MENTAL HEALTH OF STUDENTS AND STAFF IS VITAL.

MAKING SURE THE KIDS FEEL WELCOME AT SCHOOL IN BUILDING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN FAMILIES, STUDENTS AND SCHOOL STAFF ARE GREAT FOUNDATION FOR THIS WORK.

[00:05:05]

THIRD IS ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION WITH DAC MEMBERS, STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY.

HAVING A ROBUST DISCUSSION AND INTERACTION IN OUR MEETINGS IS SO IMPORTANT AS ENGAGING WITH OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITIES TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VOICES OF FAMILIES ARE HEARD AND THAT THEY KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AT DAC. LOOKING BACK OVER THE LAST SCHOOL YEAR TO SEE HOW WELL WE WERE GUIDED BY OUR PRIORITIES I WILL SHARE THAT WE HAD SEVERAL MEETINGS THAT FOCUS ON ACHIEVEMENT AND SUCCESS FOR ALL STUDENTS INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS ON CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION, STUDENT PERFORMANCE DATA AND MIDDLE SCHOOL GUIDANCE STUDIES. WE ALSO COVERED MULTIPLE TOPICS THAT ADDRESS SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING, CAMPUS CULTURE AND STUDENT CONNECTION TO SCHOOL INCLUDING PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ON SCHOOL SAFETY, SCHOOL CULTURE AND CLIMATE, SCHOOL FUNDRAISING, DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION IN CVUSD PARTNER SAFE PASSAGE. FROM ONE OF OUR MEETINGS THE FOCUS WAS ON STUDENT ATTENDANCE AND REFLECTION SINCE COVID WHICH COVERS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND MENTAL HEALTH, WE ALSO MADE INTENTIONAL EFFORT TO ENGAGE DAC MEMBERS WITH REGULAR DISCUSSIONS, TABLE TALKS AND EVEN ADVISORY COUNCIL PANEL. WE ALSO HELD THE FIRST EVER SUPER DAC MEETING LAST YEAR END WERE HOLDING TO THIS YEAR, WE ALSO STARTED THE SUPER DAC NEWSLETTER TO COMMUNICATE TO ALL CVUSD FAMILIES ABOUT WHAT DOCS ARE DOING.

I HOPE ARE ABLE TO ACHIEVE A SIMILAR LEVEL OF MOVEMENT ON ALL OF OUR PRIORITIES ISSUE. OUR FIRST ACT MEETING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WAS ON SEPTEMBER 12, I WANT TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TO ALL OF THE TRUSTEES, DOCTOR MCLAUGHLIN AND DISTRICT LEADERSHIP WHO ARE REGULARLY IN ATTENDANCE AS WELL AS MR. KENNY LOU WHO SERVES AS OUR FACILITATOR FOR DAC.

WE HAD TO INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION ITEMS ON OUR AGENDA THE FIRST IS A PRESENTATION BY MR. LOU ON THE UPDATED DAC HANDBOOK WHICH CONTAINS USEFUL INFORMATION SUCH AS OUR DAC BYLAWS AND TIPS ON PROCEDURE WHICH IS GREAT FOR NEW AND RETURNING MEMBERS, THE UPDATED DAC HANDBOOK IS AVAILABLE ON THE DAC WEBPAGE. THE SECOND BIG ITEM ON OUR AGENDA WAS A THOROUGH PRESENTATION BY ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS ON THE WORK THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING TO CREATE A COMPREHENSIVE DATA-DRIVEN APPROACH TO COUNSELING ACROSS THE GREAT EXPANSE THAT ENSURE ALL STUDENTS ARE SERVED EQUITABLY.

IT'S EXCITING WORK TO PROMOTE STUDENT SUCCESS AND WELL-BEING.

OUR OCTOBER 10 MEETING WAS A SUPER DAC WHICH IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL. ADVISORY COUNCILS TO COME TOGETHER AND SHARE IDEAS AND PERSPECTIVES.

I ALWAYS ENJOY OUR SUPER DAC MEETINGS BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING SO ENERGIZING AND INSPIRING ABOUT HAVING SO MANY PARENT LEADERS IN ONE ROOM. OUR MAIN PRESENTATION THE DISCUSSION WAS ALL ABOUT MASTERY GRADING WHICH IS A PRACTICE THAT IMPACTS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT WELL-BEING.

WE HEARD FROM THE PRESIDENT COURTNEY STOCKTON INTO TEACHERS WHO WERE EARLY DOCTOR SHAWN FLAHERTY FROM NEWBERRY PARK HIGH SCHOOL AND DAVID FROM WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL.

KENNY LOU AND DOCTOR DANA SELLARS ALSO PRESENTED AFTER THE GREENSPAN BREAKOUT GROUPS ATTENDEES SHARED KEY TAKEAWAYS AND SOME OF MY FAVORITES WERE INSIDE PROVIDING IEP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR EVERYONE. THE MARRIAGE OF MASTERY GRADING CREATES AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD FOR ALL.

IT ELIMINATES ANXIETY FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND AS FAST AND EMPOWERS THEM TO FAIL FORWARD.

THIS PRACTICE WILL CREATE LIFELONG LEARNERS AND MASTERY GRADING SUPPORTS EVERYWHERE. OUR THIRD DAC MEETING OF THE YEAR WAS YESTERDAY, NOVEMBER THE 14TH, WE HAD THREE MAIN ITEMS ON OUR AGENDA THE FIRST WAS AN INFORMATIVE AND LET'S FACE IT, HUMOROUS PRESENTATION ON HOW LAWS ARE MADE IN CALIFORNIA BY THE DAC LEGISLATIVE REPORTER. WE GATHERED FEEDBACK FROM OUR MEMBERS ON THE DISTRICT ALL CAPS FROM THE BUDGET COMMITTEE.

AND OUR MEMBERS ARE GENERALLY SATISFIED WITH THE CURRENT GOALS WE CAME UP WITH IDEAS TO ADJUST THE LANGUAGE.

OUR PRIMARY FOCUS FOR THE MEETING WAS A PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION ON SITE COUNCILS WE HEARD FROM MR. LOU ABOUT THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR C SITE COUNCILS AND A BRIEF SURVEY ABOUT COUNCIL OPERATIONS IN A PANEL OF DAC MEMBERS ABOUT BEST PRACTICES AND BREAKOUT SESSIONS TO DISCUSS COMMUNICATION SUMMATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND IDEAS FOR GROWTH.

SOME OF THE BEST PRACTICES SHARED WERE HAVING DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO COMEDIC IT WAS FAMILIES AND ALWAYS CENTERING STUDENT VOICE.

ONE AREA IDENTIFIED AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH IS ADDITIONAL OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT WITH FAMILIES SO MORE ARE AWARE OF SCHOOL SITE COUNCILS AND THE IMPORTANT ROLE THAT THEY PLAY. LOOKING FORWARD A PLAN FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF MEETINGS IS TO FOCUS ON PARENT ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY BUILDING IN DECEMBER AND WE HOPE TO HAVE A PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION IN JANUARY ON EFFORTS TO INCREASE WALKING AND BIKING TO SCHOOL WHICH BENEFITS OUR KIDS AND OUR COMMUNITY. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE ABOUT THE DISTRICT ADVISORY COUNCIL.

>> THANK YOU CHAIR HOLLAND. WE APPRECIATE THE INFORMATIVE

MRS. FELLMAN, DO WE HAVE CARDS? >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

, FIRST, PUBLIC SPEAKER ERIC. AS.

YOU HAVE THREE MINUTES, BEGIN WHEN YOU'RE READY.

>> GOOD EVENING MY NAME IS ERIC. AS I AM CURRENTLY A SENIOR.

I'M HERE ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENT ADVOCATES PUBLIC HEALTH OF WESTMINSTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

HERE IN THOUSAND OAKS WE ARE HERE TO ADDRESS THE RAPID GROWTH OF THE HEALTH CASE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND THE ISSUES THAT HAVE RESULTED IN AN INCREASE OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE.

IN THIS DISTRICT AND RECOGNIZES SENSIBILITY OF THE TOPIC IN OUR MINISTRIES AND FACULTY WITH PROVIDING THE STUDENTS WITH ADEQUATE SUPPORT AND RESOURCES, HENCE WHY WERE HERE TO PROPOSE TO YOU OUR ADULT MENTORING STRATEGIES TO FIX THESE ISSUES.

WE ACTIVELY CEASE THE AUTHENTIC SELF WITH INTERNAL CONFLICTS LEAVING THOSE VULNERABLE FOR HABIT INCLUDING USING DRUGS.

ALL OF US BECAUSE THE DOWNFALL OF OUR PEERS IN THE WOMEN ACADEMICS AND MOST IMPORTANT TO JEOPARDIZE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY. AS A UNIFIED COMMUNITY AND THE TRAGIC THAT IS OCCURRING WITHIN THE LAST YEARS AND I KNOW WE LIKE TO PREVENT MORE HAPPENING. OUR FIRST STRATEGY WOULD BE TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SPORTSCENTER'S AND WELLNESS CENTERS WITH THE SAME PLACE FOR STUDENTS AND ALLOWED PEERS OF THEIR AGE AND SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCE.

OF COURSE THE SUPERVISION OF A TRUSTED OR TRAINED ADULT.

SECONDLY WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING TO PRIMARILY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ONLY AS A PROVIDING FOUNDATION FOR THE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS FOR CHILDREN INCLUDING HEALTHY COVID MECHANISMS, AND INTRODUCED OTHER GRADE LEVEL SIMILAR IN SIX GRADE. LASTLY WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT WE CONSTRUCTION THE HEALTH CURRICULUM WERE HYBRID CLASS EDUCATING ON THE ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR OUR WELL-BEING.

THE DISTRICT CONSISTS OF A COVID MECHANISM AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE THROUGH THESE IDEAS WE BELIEVE STUDENTS WILL GAIN ACADEMIC AND FIRST-HAND KNOWLEDGE TO SURVIVE OUTSIDE OF

SCHOOL. >> I FEEL THE BEST THING THAT WE COULD DO RIGHT NOW IS OUR FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS TO REEVALUATE OUR CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK AND ENHANCE THE COURSEWORK TO ADDRESS CURRENT MENTAL HEALTH CASES ON THE FACING OF OUR STUDENTS PROVE WE HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER OUR SUGGESTIONS TO CREATE A BENEFICIAL ENVIRONMENT THAT HELPS OUR COMMUNITY COPE WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND TO CREATE A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR EVERYONE.

I WOULD BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE.

>> THANK YOU ERIC. NEXT SPEAKER CASEY.

[00:15:04]

>> I NAME IS CASEY AND EMMA NORTHWEST MINISTER, WEAVER PROGRAM FOR STUDENT ADVOCATE LEADING DECISION ON AND WE FOCUS ON HELPING PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY, I'M VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH YOU GUYS TODAY BECAUSE YOU SEE MORE AND MORE OF OUR PEERS ARE GETTING INTO USING SUBSTANCES.

THE STUFF OUT THERE SEEMS TO BE GETTING STRONGER.

IT IS BECOMING SO COMMON IN PLACES AS A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, NOT PARTICIPATING FEELS ABNORMAL.

WE KNOW THAT YOU CARE AND THIS IS THE REASON WHY WE ARE HERE TO PROPOSE CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY. PEOPLE WHO ARE PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY HEALTHY DON'T USUALLY RELY ON SUBSTANCES OR VALIDATION OR BELIEF. THEY ARE AWARE OF THEMSELVES AND THEIR NEEDS. THEIR CONNECTION BETWEEN STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH AND TURNING TO SUBSTANCES.

AN IDEA THAT WE HAVE TO HELP THE SITUATION AS A CLASS THAT WOULD TEACH CHILDREN TO BE SELF-AWARE, A CLASS THAT WILL BEGIN IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND END AND HIGH SCHOOL.

THE CLASS WILL CONSIST OF ONE THAT TEACHES CHILDREN TO LOVE THEMSELVES, DEVELOP EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND FOSTER HEALTHY MINDSETS. OUR CONCEPT IS TO CREATE A MORE SUPPORTIVE SOCIETY STARTING RIGHT HERE IN OUR SCHOOLS, LET'S RECOGNIZE AND PACK AND TRAUMA AND CREATE A SPACE FOR HEALING.

OUR SCHOOLS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SHAPE OUR VIEWS ON SUBSTANCES, SOMETHING NOT EVERYONE HOME OR.

GROUP CAN DO. LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE HER SCHOOL COMMUNITY A PLACE FOR EVERYONE FEEL SUPPORTED AND HEARD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND HAVE

A GOOD DAY. >> THANK YOU CASEY.

NEXT SPEAKER DAVID ORTIZ. >> HELLO, MY NAME IS DAVID ORTIZ I AM WITH SALUTE STUDENT ADVOCATE LEADING UP LIVING DECISIONS AND THE PROGRAM WITH WEST MINISTER HERE IN THOUSAND OAKS AND WE ARE HERE TO COME TO YOU WITH POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO HELP OUR STUDENTS OVERCOME DRUG ADDICTION AND ABUSE.

WE KNOW YOU CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THAT'S WHY WERE HERE TO SHARE SOME OF THE IDEAS THAT WE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON. THE MOST ALARMING ISSUE IN OUR COMMUNITY IS THE RISING NUMBER OF DRUG ABUSE WITHIN TEENS AND CHILDREN. CONSIDERING STUDENTS ARE NAÏVE AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE THEY TEND TO USE HARMFUL COVID MECHANISM SUCH AS DRUGS TO BRING PEACE WITHIN THEMSELVES.

HOWEVER, THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL SIDE EFFECTS. ONE OF OUR SOLUTIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM IS PRACTICING COVID MECHANISMS AT A VERY YOUNG AGE.

SO KIDS CAN LEARN THE DIFFERENT STRATEGIES TO COPE WITH STRESS, ANXIETY, MIXED EMOTIONS AND ANGER.

THIS WOULD TEACH THEM HOW TO MANAGE THEIR EMOTIONS WHEN FEELING A LOW STATE OF MIND. INSTEAD OF SIMPLY WARNING KIDS WE SHOULD TEACH THEM HOW TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS THAT COME THEIR WAY. SO THEY ARE PREPARED OF UNEXPECTED ISSUES. HER SECOND SOLUTION IS MORE ACCESS TO WELLNESS CENTERS AND WE COULD CREATE EACH PASSIVE AT THE START OF EACH CLASS THAT THEY CAN GO TO THE ONE CENTER AT ANY TIME THAT THEY WANT. IT COULD CREATE WERE ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS THAT WILL HELP THEM COPE WITH THEIR PROBLEMS INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE BATHROOMS TO USE DRUGS AS THEIR ALTERNATIVE STRESS RELIEVERS. BY CREATING THE PASSES IT WILL HELP STUDENTS FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE TALKING TO COUNSELORS AND STAFF ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE GOING THROUGH AND WHAT EMOTIONS THEY ARE HAVING. OUR THIRD SOLUTION TRAINING TEACHERS TO BE MORE UNDERSTANDING.

ALTHOUGH NOT DIRECTLY THEIR FAULT, TEACHERS ARE ONE OF THE REASONS WHY STUDENTS OF STRESS IN SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE STUDENTS IN TURN OF CONFLICTS WHEN STRESS FORCING THEM TO YOU SUBSTANCES THAT MAKE THEM FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES WHEN TAKING A TEST OR GOING INSIDE OF THE CLASS BEFORE THE BELL RINGS. BY EDUCATING TEACHERS ON EMPATHY AND EMOTIONAL GUIDANCE WHETHER THAT IS BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL, THERE IS A HIGHER LIGHT COULD THAT THESE SAME STUDENTS WILL APPROACH THEM ONCE AGAIN AND SHARE THEIR PERSONAL STRUGGLES AND EXPERIENCES. THESE INTERACTIONS WITH OPEN TEACHERS EYES AND INTRODUCE THEM TO A NEW PERSPECTIVE WHAT BY OTHER TEACHERS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS REGARDING OUR PROPOSAL I WOULD

BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH DAVID,

NEXT SPEAKER. >> DO I PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON?

>> HELLO, GOOD EVENING DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS I AM A SENIOR AT WESTLAKE HIGH AND I AM WITH WESTMINSTER FREE CLINIC THE PROGRAM THAT YOU HAVE HEARD STUDENTS ADVOCATE LEADING UPLIFTING DECISIONS. WE ARE HERE TO ADVOCATE FOR OUR YOUNGER GENERATIONS AND MENTAL HEALTH AND HOW THAT IS INCREASED

[00:20:05]

ARISE IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND HAS NEGATIVELY IMPACTED OUR STUDENTS PERSONAL AND SCHOOL LIVES. WE WANT THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS THAT WE CARE FOR THEM. AND BY DOING THIS WE ARE HERE TO ADVOCATE FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT IS GOING ON AFFECTING MANY FAMILIES, FRIENDS, CITIES LIKE THOUSAND OAKS, STAFF IN SCHOOL MEMBERS AS WELL. THIS GENERATION IS FILLED WITH SUCH GENERATIONS THAT ARE FILLED WITH POTENTIAL AND YOUNG LEADERS OUT OF US. WE HAVE SEEN THAT THERE FEELING A LITTLE BIT LOST AND SCARED BECAUSE ADULTS ARE DOING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO COPE WITH THIS AS WELL. WE ARE PROPOSING THAT WE IMPLEMENT A 10 MINUTE BREAK IN CLASS TO ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO LEARN TECHNIQUES ON HOW TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONAL AND STRESS MANAGEMENT AS WELL AND LEARN TO COPE IT AWAY WHERE THEY WANT TO HARM TO THEMSELVES IN THE FUTURE, THIS CLASS WILL ALLOW THEM TO LEARN MANY TECHNIQUES SUCH AS READING, SORRY.

IN THE IMPORTANT ABILITIES THAT WE NEED IN LIFE, TEACHERS NEED TO BE TRAINED TO HELP US IN THIS IMPORTANT TIME BECAUSE OUR BRAINS ARE FRAGILE FOR THIS T TIME.

WE NEED OUR STUDENTS TO LEARN THAT WE HAVE TIME FOR THEM TO CREATE BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT WE COULD DO THIS WITH YOUR HELP AND WE KNOW THAT YOU CARE AND BY DOING THIS WE HAVE HOPE IN SHOWING THEM THAT THEY CAN CREATE A BETTER LIFE FOR THEM BECAUSE I KNOW THAT WE COULD DO THIS WITH YOUR HELP BY SHOWING THIS OUR PEERS WILL KNOW THE POTENTIAL VALUE THAT WE HAVE WITHIN THEMSELVES. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU, NEXT SPEAKER IS BETSY PATTERSON.

>> GOOD EVENING PRESIDENT GILL, TRUSTEES OF THE CONEJO VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT, STOCK.

MY NAME IS BETSY PATTERSON, I AM SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF OF THE VENTURA COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS.

THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS IS A NON- PARTISAN GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION WORKING TO PROTECT AND EXPAND VOTING RIGHTS AND ENSURE EVERYONE IS REPRESENTED IN OUR DEMOCRACY ONE OF THE WAYS WE DO THIS IS TO EDUCATION. TONIGHT I'M HERE TO TALK WITH YOU A BETTER VOTER EDUCATION FOR HIS SCHOOL STUDENTS.

EACH YEAR THE CALIFORNIA SECRETARY OF STATE AND THE CALIFORNIA SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION DESIGNATES TWO WEEKS AS HIGH SCHOOL VOTER EDUCATION WEEKS.

DURING THOSE TWO WEEKS WE OFFER A PRESENTATION ON VOTING TO 16, 17 AND 18 -YEAR-OLDS IN HIGH SCHOOL, COLLABORATING WITH THEIR GOVERNMENT, ECONOMICS AND U.S. HISTORY TEACHERS.

WE DISCUSSED THE HISTORY OF VOTING IN OUR COUNTRY WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO ENGAGE IN A DISCUSSION ON WHY VOTING MIGHT BE IMPORTANT TO THEM, FOR STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE AND WANT TO REGISTER TO VOTE OR FOR 16 AND 17 EUROS WHO WANT TO PREREGISTER, WE GUIDE THEM STEP-BY-STEP THROUGH THE VOTER REGISTRATION FORM. , WE TALK WITH THEM ABOUT THE PROCESS OF VOTING IN VENTURA COUNTY AND WE ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS THIS FALL 20 TRAINED LEAGUE MEMBERS SPOKE WITH 2162 STUDENTS AND 86 CLASSROOMS IN FOUR OF THE NINE VENTURA COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS. OF THOSE STUDENTS ONLY 94 WERE ALREADY REGISTERED PREREGISTER TO VOTE AND WE HELP 692 STUDENTS BECOME REGISTER VOTERS. EACH STUDENT WHETHER THEY WANTED TO REGISTER TO VOTE OR WHETHER THEY REGISTERED TO VOTE OR NOT RECEIVED PACKET VOTER REGISTRATION FORM A FLYER WITH INFORMATION ABOUT REGISTERING TO VOTE IN WAYS TO RETURN AND TRACK THEIR BALLOT, BOOKMARK WITH NONPARTISAN RESOURCES AND HOW TO FIND OUT ABOUT CANDIDATES AND VALID MEASURES INTO STICKER SAYING I REGISTER TO VOTE. WE ASKED FOR FEEDBACK FROM

[00:25:15]

STUDENTS AND THE TEACHERS INCLUDING THEIR IDEAS ON HOW WE CAN IMPROVE OUR PRESENTATION, THIS FEEDBACK WAS OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE AND SUGGESTIONS INCLUDE OUR VISUAL AID OR POWERPOINT SLIDES MORE INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES, MORE EXPLANATION OF THE PROCESS OF VOTING AND HOW TO FIND INFORMATION ON POLITICAL PARTIES. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE VENTURA COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION AND SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR MORALES AS WELL AS DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT, SCHOOL PRINCIPALS, SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND THE TEACHERS WHO INVITED US INTO THE CLASSROOMS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT WE HOPE TO CONTINUE TO HAVE YOUR

SUPPORT. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE REPORT IN THE 692 NEWLY REGISTERED VOTERS.

NEXT SPEAKER KEVIN DOING. >> GOOD AFTERNOON TRUSTEES AND ADMINISTRATORS I AM SPEAKING AS A DIRECTOR AND BOARD SECRETARY.

IN THE GARDEN CONEJO SCHOOL. ON NOVEMBER 1 SUPERINTENDENT MCLAUGHLIN SAID IN THE COMMENTS HE'S GLAD SOMEBODY INVITED THE MEDIA TO THE MEETING. WE ARE TWO.

WE WERE RELIEVED TO READ HIS COMMENT THAT THE DISTRICT HAS NO INTENT TO SELL THE PROPERTY AT 975 UB STAR DURING 111 MEETING SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR MCLAUGHLIN ALSO SAID IF CARDIN WANTS TO SIGN THE NEGOTIATION ON THE TABLE I'M SURE DOCTOR HAYEK WOULD HAVE FURTHER CONVERSATIONS, WE WOULD TAKE DIRECTION FROM THE BOARD IF THERE ARE ANY CONTRACT LANGUAGE THAT NEED TO BE ADJUSTED. WE THOUGHT OKAY PERHAPS THERE IS A GLIMMER OF HOPE IT'S A POSSIBILITY THAT CONTRACT LANGUAGE CAN BE ADJUSTED THEN WE HEARD FROM DOCTOR HAYEK SHORTLY AFTER ADMITTING WE WERE THRILLED.

WE THOUGHT PERHAPS THE DISTRICT IS WILLING TO MAKE AS REQUESTED.

NOPE. WE WERE WRONG.

HOURS AGO EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON SUPERINTENDENT MCLAUGHLIN INFORMED US THAT THE LEASE ON THE TABLE IS NONNEGOTIABLE.

THE LEASE WHERE WE MAY CONCESSION AFTER CONCESSION IN AN ATTEMPT TO PLEASE THE DISTRICT IS NONNEGOTIABLE.

THE LEASE THAT THE DISTRICT ADDED LAST MINUTE POISON PILL PROVISION TWO IS NONNEGOTIABLE. THE CARDIN REDUCED HER FROM OVER 10 TO JUST TO AND TO ADD THE SUCCESS AND INTEREST CLAUSE KNOWN AS TERMINATION UPON SALE AND THE RIGHTS TO TERMINATE THE LEASE IN THE EVENT THEY WANT TO SELL THE PROPERTY OR IF THE DISTRICT AND THE PROPERTY FOR STUDENTS AND UPDATE THE COMMENCEMENT DATE AND TERM TO REFLECT IT SINCE APRIL 2023.

PLAINTIFF RECALLED. >> BEGINS CANNOT ACCOMMODATE OUTLINED IN THE E-MAIL AND THEIR ATTORNEY LANGUAGE STANDS FIRM.

SO HERE WE ARE IN HERE WE WILL BE THROUGH JULY 2025 HIM HIM HIM HIM HIM I FOLLOWED THE NEGOTIATIONS FROM THE BEGINNING AND FOR YOUR AWARENESS I WANTED TO POINT OUT FIVE KEY TERMS OF THE PROPOSED LEASE THAT ARE SUBSTANTIALLY MORE BENEFICIAL TO THE DISTRICT IN YOUR EXISTING LEASES WITHIN THE TWO CHARTER SCHOOLS WHICH SHOULD MOTIVATE YOU TO MOVE FORWARD WITH US.

AND RENT PAYMENTS ARE DOUBLE THOSE MADE BY THE CHARTERS, TO THE ENTIRE FIRST YEAR OF CARDIN LEASES PAID UPFRONT AND ONE LUMP-SUM. THREE THE CARDIN LEASE HAS $50000 DEPOSIT PAID UPFRONT. FOR, STARTING WITH THE SECOND YEAR OF THE CARDEN LEASE, MAINTENANCE COST ARE BORNE BY CARDEN RATHER THAN THE DISTRICT UP TO $55000 PER YEAR, LASTLY, FIVE, CARDEN IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORTS AS WELL AS MONTHLY REPORTS OF BOARD MEETING AGENDAS.

[00:30:06]

I WAS ENCOURAGED BY YOUR WORDS DURING THE LAST DISTRICT OF THE MEETING INDICATING AN APPETITE TO CONTINUE TO REVIEW OUR LEASE AT HER CURRENT LOCATION. HOWEVER, SUCH WERE MISPLACED AFTER READING AN E-MAIL SENT A FEW HOURS AGO BY SUPERINTENDENT MCLAUGHLIN INDICATED NO MOVEMENT ON KEY LEASE TERMS THAT HAS BEEN THE LINCHPIN OF ALL THE CURRENT DISCORD.

WE HAVE A SIMPLE KEY REQUEST REMOVE OR MODIFY THE TERMINATION UPON SALE BECAUSE WHICH WAS INTRODUCED INTO THE VALUE INTO NEGOTIATIONS THIS PAST MARCH WHICH REQUIRES BETTER SCHOOL VACATE IMMEDIATELY UPON SALE OF THE PROPERTY BY THE DISTRICT, THIS CLAUSE IS UNREASONABLE MUCH LESS THE SCHOOL.

ESPECIALLY DURING THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WE SIMPLY ASK FOR PROTECTION OF A REASONABLE WINDOW OF TIME TO ALLOW STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO FINISH THE REMAINING SCHOOL YEAR IN SUCH A SCENARIO. HOWEVER, FROM SUPERINTENDENT GOFFIN'S E-MAIL THE DISTRICT CONTINUES TO IMPOSE THIS CLAUSE IN THE TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT STANCE.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO STOMACH THIS AS AN APPROACH OF COOPERATION GOOD FAITH THIS IS WHY YOU INSIST ON SUCH A CLAUSE AND DEFENSIBLE RATIONALE YOU CAN PROVIDE THAT WOULD PAR A DRACONIAN PROVISION I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I AM ENCOURAGED TO WORK WITH DISTRICT LEADERSHIP WITH A WIN-WIN SOLUTION AND AT THE END OF THE DAY WERE ALL THE SAME TEAM AS NEIGHBORS IN CARETAKERS LITTLE ONES REALITY APPEARS NOT TO BE SO AS YOU DEMONSTRATED,

THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU, NEXT SPEAKER

LESLIE NELSON. >> GETTING DISTRICT LEADERS MY NAME IS LESLIE NELSON AND I'M HERE TONIGHT TO REPRESENT THE PARENTS COMMUNITY ON BEHALF OF MAJOR REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO INSTALL MODULAR BUILDING ON THE CAMPUS SO HOW'S THE KT PROGRAM EXCITED TO BE PART OF THE THOUSAND OAKS COMMUNITY WATCH.

FROM 2022 FROM SAN FERNANDO VALLEY TO THE CONEJO VALLEY WHERE WE WOULD FIND AN IDYLLIC EDUCATION FOR GIRLS TO THRIVE HAVING ATTENDED CVUSD PRESCHOOL ONTO A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR THE 25-YEAR-OLD THIS YEAR ATTENDING KINDERGARTEN WE KNOW HAVE THE GOOD FORTUNE THAT ENABLES US TO WALK TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY HAVING ATK PROGRAM WOULD BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITY OF PARENTS AND SIBLINGS FACING CHALLENGES OF BALANCING EDUCATION WITHIN MULTIPLE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES FOR THEIR CHILDREN WE RECOGNIZE THAT EVERY PARENT HAS OPPORTUNITY THAT WE HAVE, WHAT THE PROGRAM HAS MET TO MY CHILDREN AND PREPARING THEM SOCIALLY AND ACADEMICALLY IS IMMEASURABLE CMI GIRLS INTO CURIOUS AND KIND INDIVIDUALS FURTHER INFORMS US THAT WE MADE THE RIGHT DECISION IN JOINING THE COMMUNITY.

EQUALLY MY HUSBAND AND I LEARNED TO BE BETTER PARENTS PRIORITIZING EDUCATION, GETTING INVOLVED IN FINDING NEW FAMILIES AND PARENTS TO ENGAGE, THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IS CRITICAL SETTING OF OUR FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN.

THIS SIMPLE CANNOT BE DENIED, WE END ONCE AGAIN AND REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO INSTALL MODULAR BUILDING ON THE CAMPUS FOR THE HOUSING ARE TK PROGRAM'S THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING IN THE COMMUNITY. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU, THE FINAL SPEAKER IS KENT REMARKETING MY NAME IS KENT SO WELL AND APPARENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MAPES I SERVE AS A TREASURER OF THE MAPES COMMUNITY WHAT INTERNETWORK I'M HERE TO ENCOURAGE THE BOARD TO APPROVE OUTSTANDING REQUEST TO ALLOW MAPES FOR A TAKE COUNTRY TK PROGRAM WE GRIP IN THOUSAND OAKS A APPEARING 202,021 TO RAISE HER CHILDREN OUR SON IS A FIRST GRADER AT MAPES AND WE HOPE HER DAUGHTER WILL BE ABLE TO START TK THERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

I WITNESSED FIRSTHAND THE EXTRAORDINARY DEDICATION, CARE AND COMPASSION THAT THE FACULTY AND STAFF PROVIDES TO STUDENTS.

[00:35:03]

BEYOND HIS OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT VALUES AND ENRICHMENT THAT PROVIDES THIS COMMUNITY THAT I CANNOT EASILY EXPRESS WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL START TO THE TEACHERS AND THE PASSION FOR THE CHILDREN THAT THEY SERVE WHAT ALSO MAKES IT SPECIAL STEMS FROM THE INCLUSIVITY WHICH HE ADMINISTRATION ENGAGES PARENTS THIS CREATES AN ACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT SPANS FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE HOME IT IS A SCHOOL THAT THE PART OF THE CONEJO VALLEY COMMUNITY AND DESERVES THE FULL SUPPORT OF THE SPORT AND AS ITS STATUS AS A CHARTER SCHOOL THERE ARE 16 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WITHIN THE CVUSD IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING AND ALL OF THEM HAVE A TK PROGRAM EVERY SINGLE CVUSD SCHOOL HAS A TK PROGRAM EXCEPT FOR MAPES, WHY IS THIS A CASE IT IS AN EXEMPLARY SCHOOL, THE PROPOSAL FOR A TK PROGRAM IS SELF-FUNDED IN OTHER WORDS IT DOES NOT IMPOSE ANY FUNDING OBLIGATION ON THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, BOARD MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY DENYING IT A TK PROGRAM EFFECTIVELY REQUIRES FAMILIES SUCH AS OURS THAT WE PREFER TO SEND A SIBLING TO TK TO FACE AN UNNECESSARY AND UNAVOIDABLE HARDSHIP THIS HARDSHIP IS FORCING PARENTS TO CHOOSE BETWEEN PAYING FOR AN EXTRA YEAR OF PRIVATE TUITION WERE ENROLLING THEIR CHILD IN A NEIGHBORING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WAND SWITCHING AFTER ONE YEAR AD JOINING AS A GARDENER. ADDING A SEPARATE DROP-OFF AND PICKUP LOCATION IS A CHALLENGE ESPECIALLY FOR DUAL INCOME HOUSEHOLDS I APPRECIATE THEM PROVIDING THEM WITH TK ENROLLMENT MAY REDUCE CVUSD ENROLLMENT OVER ONLY TALK ABOUT 20 - 40 STUDENTS AND FURTHERMORE THESE STUDENTS COULD OTHERWISE BENEFIT FROM THE COMFORT OF GOING TO SCHOOL THEN OLDER SIBLING AND BEING ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM THE STABILITY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND FRIENDSHIPS TK HAS INTENDED TO PROVIDE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. ALLOWING MAPES TO EXTEND THE PROGRAM TO OFFER TK WOULD DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE THE LIVES OF FAMILIES WITHIN THE CURRENT COMMUNITY THAT THEY SERVE.

THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU VERY MUCH, THANK

GIVE THEM THE CONFIDENCE TO BE CREATIVE AND INSPIRED THEM TO KEEP CREATING, ONE OF MY KIDS OR FRIENDS HAVE CONTINUED IN THE ARTS TO THIS DAY MANY OF WHOM STILL HANG OUT MY KITCHEN AND PROVIDE A MUSIC STUDIO PURSUING THEIR DREAMS AND IT STARTED HERE. EVEN THOUGH STUDENTS WHO WOUND UP TAKING MORE TRADITIONAL CAREER PATHS LIKE HOPEFULLY TO MY CHILDREN, THE IMPACT IN THE CONFIDENCE THAT THEY GAIN HAS FOLLOWED THEM INTO COLLEGE AND INTO LIFE.

EARLY IN MY TENURE AS A TRUSTEE AFTER RECEIVING A PASSION AND HIGHLY ENERGETIC VIDEOTAPED PLEA BY BRIAN PETER ASKING US TO FOCUS ON HER PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS TO HELP DEVELOP THE DISTRICT WIDE STRATEGIC PLANS AND VISION THE BOARD CREATED THE POSITION ABOUT THE COORDINATOR AND SELECTED BRIAN PETER TO FILL THIS POSITION HIS ENERGY CONTINUES TO THIS DAY.

HAD OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE ON THE STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE WHICH WOULD OFFICIATE AND LED BY CONSULTANT PEGGY BURKE IN ADDITION TO BRIAN PETER AND ONE OF THE GOALS WAS TO PROVIDE ARTS EDUCATION IDEALLY INTEGRATED EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTION AND IT IS CONSISTENT AND EQUITABLE MANNER.

WITH THE AVAILABILITY OF NEW STATE FUNDING WE SAW ONE OF THE OUTCOMES OF THE PLAN A COUPLE OF BOARD MEETINGS AGO WHEN WE WERE TREATED TO A PRESENTATION ON A NEW CREDENTIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAM. IN THE HARD WORK THE TEACHERS ARE DOING THIS IS A VERY LONG INTRODUCTION AND A PRELUDE TO SAY I SAW LOCAL MANEUVERING PARK HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS ANOTHER FANTASTIC MARYLAND PRODUCTION THE STAGE WAS FULL OF SINGERS, ACTORS, DANCERS EVEN THE BAND PERFORMED ON THE STAGE WAS AMAZING HOW MUCH TALENT WE HAVE IN CONEJO VALLEY AND SO MUCH ABSOLUTE JOY ON THE FACE OF ALL THE PERFORMERS. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY PERSON WE SEE ON STAGE THERE ARE SO MANY CREW MEMBERS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES TO PULL THIS OFF WORKING ON CHOREOGRAPHY, PROPS, COSTUMES, LIGHTING, SOUND, PUBLICITY AND NOT TO MENTION ALL THE VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT STEP UP AND PICTURE TO HELP. I'M SO THANKFUL THAT THE ARTS ARE ALIVE AND THRIVING AND I LOVE ALL THE TALENT WE HAVE.

PLEASE GO SEE WHATEVER HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. THIS TRUSTEE REMARK WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE WESTLAKE THEATER COMPANY WHO IS PERFORMING ALICE IN WONDERLAND AT THE CARPENTER THEATER AT WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL IN THEIR FIRST PERFORMANCE STARTED TONIGHT ABOUT 15 MINUTES AGO BUT THEY ARE PERFORMING TOMORROW AND FRIDAY NIGHT AT 6:30 P.M. AND BY THE THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL THEATER DEPARTMENT WHOSE FALL SHOW IS PETER IN THE STAR CATCHER THEIR PERFORMANCES START TOMORROW WHICH IS THURSDAY AT 7:00 P.M.

AND THEN THEY HAVE A 7:00 P.M. PERFORMANCE ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AS WELL THE MATINEE AT 2:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY THAT WILL BE AT THE THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL PACK, THANK YOU AND I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A RESTFUL AND FESTIVE WEEK OFF OR THANKSGIVING. THANK YOU TRUSTEE SYLVESTER,

THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH AND THANK YOU TO ALL OF HER SPEAKERS.

ALSO THANK YOU LEANNE FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO IN YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT DAC IN YOUR LEADERSHIP.

THANK YOU. I ATTENDED A MORNING ASSEMBLY AT MAPLE LAST MONDAY AND WHAT I SAW FROM THEIR KIDS WHEN THEY REPEAT THEIR PLEDGE AND IS APPLIED TO CAME HOME AND I WATCH THE NEWS AND I SAW ADULTS AND I THOUGHT THEY SHOULD'VE GONE TO MAPLE BECAUSE THIS IS THE PLEDGE THAT THEY SAY EVERY MONDAY I PLEDGE TO MYSELF TO BE MY BEST AND TO DO IT EVERY MOMENT THAT I CAN IF I MAKE MISTAKES I WILL LEARN FROM IT, FORGIVE MYSELF AND MOVE ON I AM NEAT, KIND A HARD WORKER, I AM LOVABLE, CAPABLE,

[00:45:05]

PROUD TO BE ME I AM MAPLE MUSTANG AND I MODEL THE WAY TO SUCCEED, TO HAVE IT REINFORCED EVERY MONDAY CANNOT AVOID MAKING THEM BETTER PEOPLE AND STRONGER PEOPLE.

I WAS SO PLEASED WITH THAT. I DO HAVE COMMENTS ABOUT A STACK THE PASSIONATE DISCUSSION ABOUT MASTERY GRADING AND THE EXPERIENCE THAT THE STUDENTS HAD IN THE VARIOUS EXPERIENCES THAT THE STUDENTS HAD AS WELL AS A CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT I WAS SO PLEASED TO SEE THE PASSION THAT THEY GOT IN THEIR CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT CONGRATULATIONS TO HER TEACHER OF THE MONTH RANDY SMITH FROM REDWOOD AND THE VERY SPIRITED IT WAS A RARE DEMONSTRATION THAT WE SAW YESTERDAY WE SAW YESTERDAY OF THE EMBRACEMENT AND EMBRACING OF THE STAFFER RANDY AND HOW PROUD THEY WERE THAT SHOWS A STRONG TEAM THAT WE HAVE IN EACH TIME WE GO TO THE TEACHER OF THE MONTH WE SEE THE SUPPORT FOR THE TEAM AND THERE'S NOT A STAR TEACHER OF THE MONTH WITHOUT A SUPPORTING TEAM THAT IS GREAT. CONGRATULATIONS TO RANDY.

>> LAST NIGHT WE WENT TO AFRICAN-AMERICAN DAC IT WAS SO FUN AND ALSO WHAT WE SAW WAS A PASSIONATE PLANNING OF ACTIVITIES FOR AFRICAN-AMERICAN MONTH WHICH IS IN FEBRUARY AND THEY WERE STARTING TO WORK ON IT LAST NIGHT, I ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE BECAUSE I GOT TO SEE MORE OF A CULTURE THAT ARE NOT PART OF AND I GOT TO UNDERSTAND AND LEARN FROM AND THAT WAS VERY GOOD. , TO ALL INTERCOMMUNITY STUDENTS, FAMILY AND TEACHERS FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO SAY ONE THING I'M VERY PROUD OF OUR DISTRICTS TEAM GOING INTO THE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP WE DON'T QUITE KNOW WHO THAT'S GOING TO BE AT BECAUSE WE HAVE TWO OF OUR TEAMS PLAYING FOR THE POSITION, NO MATTER WHICH ONE GOES IN I KNOW THEY'LL BE WELL REPRESENTED AND I WISH BOTH TEAMS LOCK IN THE SAFE GAME AND ENJOY IT.

I WANT TO WISH, I WANT TO SAY AGAIN HAPPY NATIVE AMERICAN WEEK ALL HE SAID MORE ELOQUENTLY THAN I'M GOING TO DO, RESPECTING THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE THAT OCCUPY THIS LAND BEFORE WE CAME IN NOW CALL IT THE CONEJO. TO ALL INTERCOMMUNITY'S, STUDENTS, FAMILY, TEACHER, STAFF, ADMINISTRATION SITE AND DISTRICT AND COMMUNITIES, HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING, ENJOY FAMILY AND BE SAFE AND WE LOOK FORWARD SEEING YOU AT OUR NEXT MEETING

IN DECEMBER. >> THINK YOU TRUSTEE CORVETTE,

TRUSTEE POWELL. >> GOOD EVENING I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH YOU ALL THANK YOU TO OUR STUDENTS TO CAME AND SPOKE TONIGHT IT'S INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT YOU ARE RESEARCHING AND ADVOCATING ON SO WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME YOU TOOK TO COME HERE AND SPEAK TO US TONIGHT.

I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO TRUSTEE KAHL YOUR COMMENTS WERE BEAUTIFUL ABOUT RESPECTING OUR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AS WE GO INTO THANKSGIVING WEEK AND YOU SAID IT BETTER THAN I COULD SO I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THAT. I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO MS. HOLLAND FOR HER COMMENTS TONIGHT IN HER REPORT, I KNOW WERE ALL VERY COMMITTED TO THE IMPORTANCE OF PARENTAL INPUT AND ENGAGEMENT IN THE DISTRICT HAS A GREAT SYSTEM IN PLACE FOR BEING ABLE TO DO THAT, I WANT TO THANK MS. HOLLAND FOR LEADERSHIP OF DAC AND THE LEADERSHIP ROLES THAT SHE TAKES INTERCOMMUNITY NOT ONLY ON BEHALF OF EVERY STUDENTS DISABILITIES FOR ALL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES IN HER CONTINUED FOCUS ON CREATING MORE INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS AND OVERALL A MORE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY AND THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF ADVOCACY WORK IN EDUCATION SHE DOES AROUND THE FOCUS ARE CONSISTENT SOURCE OF INSPIRATION AND REGULARLY EDUCATING ME AND HELPING ME LEARN AND GROW ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES, THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO.

IT'S BEEN A BUSY COUPLE WEEKS AND I WON'T GO INTO DEPTH, I WON'T BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE IN CVUSD BUT I WILL SHARE HOW MUCH I APPRECIATED EXPERIENCES AND SEE DAP, DAC AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN DAC MEETINGS I ATTENDED EACH OF THESE COUNCILS IS SO UNIQUE IN THEIR CONVERSATIONS ARE SO VIBRANT I REALLY VALUE THE INPUT AND BEING ABLE TO HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO LISTEN TO THOSE CONVERSATIONS. OKLAHOMA AT NEWBURY PARK HIGH

[00:50:05]

SCHOOL, YOU SAID IT VERY WELL TRUSTEE SYLVESTER, IT WAS AMAZING. I WAS NOT SURPRISED IT WAS AS GOOD AS IT WAS BUT I'M STILL IN ALL OF THE EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCES IN THE EXCELLENCE OF THE INSTRUMENTAL MUSICIANS, THE WORK OF THE CREW ONSET IN PROPS AND COSTUMES INTACT.

I WAS A THEATER GEEK AUTHOR MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT WE CALL OURSELVES THEN I DON'T KNOW THEY STILL DO, AND VERY CLEAR ON IMPACT OF THE PERFORMING ARTS ON OUR STUDENTS TRULY FOR LIFE AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE THOUSAND OAKS HIGH SCHOOL SHOW UP THIS WEEK PETER AND THE STAR CATCHER, THINK OF ARE PROVIDED NOT. THE BREAKTHROUGH VIRTUAL EVENT LAST WEEK FEATURED SOMEBODY WELL-KNOWN PHYLLIS WHO IS A SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND AUTHOR AND I WANTED TO CALL IT THE BREAKER TEAM AND ALL OTHER STAFF THAT PUTS ON THESE EVENTS THEY ARE VERY VALUABLE AND INFORMATIVE AND THEY ARE FREE FOR COMMUNITY SO I HOPE FOLKS WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE THEY COME UP THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. FINALLY I KNOW OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY INTERCOMMUNITY AT-LARGE CONTINUES TO BE REALLY IMPACTED BY ALL THIS GOING ON IN THE WORLD AND DOCTOR MACLACHLAN SENT A MESSAGE TO THE CVUSD COMMUNITY AND I REALLY APPRECIATED HEARING STATEMENTS AND ANOTHER'S GATHERING FROM OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND THAT'S A REMINDER THAT WERE STRONGER TOGETHER AND LEADING WITH LOVE AND EMPATHY AND ACCEPTANCE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING WORTH STRIVING FOR.

AND GIVEN THE FACT THAT LAST WEEK WAS A FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE BORDERLINE SHOOTING I KNOW OUR COMMUNITY IS CARRYING MORE THAN OUR SHARE OF SUFFERING.

I HOPE HER CVUSD STAFF IN OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES ARE DOING WHAT THEY CAN TO FIND PEACE AND JOY DURING THESE TIMES AND I WISH EVERYBODY A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.

THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU TRUSTEE POWELL,

TRUSTEE OVER. >> CHECK, CHECK, CHECK IS FANTASTIC. I TOO WOULD LIKE TO THANK LEANNE HOLLAND MY COMMENTS WERE AROUND GRATITUDE, I AM GRATEFUL FOR YOUR KIND POSITIVE SAMPLING LEADERSHIP ON A DAILY BASIS A MONTHLY BASIS DAC IS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE YOU AND I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES FROM WESTMINSTER FROM COMING AT THE GREAT FORTUNE OF SHARING SUNDAY WITH THEM A FEW MONTHS BACK AND WE TALKED ABOUT THE VERY ISSUE IN THEIR IDEAS WERE PROACTIVE, IDENTIFICATION AND SUPPORT AND KNOWLEDGE GAINING THE KNOWLEDGE EARLY ON WERE MENTAL HEALTH STRATEGIES ARE SO IMPORTANT AND THEY SAW SOME DUDES ABUSIVE A SYMPTOM OF MENTAL HEALTH AND IF YOU CATCH IT EARLY THIS WAS THERE ALL, IF YOU CATCH IT EARLY IN THEIR MENTAL HEALTH STRUGGLES MINUTES PREVENTATIVE AND HOPEFULLY THEY WILL NEVER GET THERE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED WORK I WOULD ECHO TRUSTEE KAHL SUGGESTION BECAUSE YOU WILL FIND WILLING PARTNERS TO HELP YOU AND I WOULD WAGER THERE IS SOME PEOPLE IN THE ROOM THAT WOULD BE WILLING PARTNERS IN THAT WORK.

ALONG THOSE LINES THE WESTMINSTER FREE CLINIC STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN IF YOU GO TO THEIR WEBSITE YOU WILL SEE AN AMAZING PROGRAM FOR OUR YOUNG STUDENTS IT IS OPEN TO ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, SOPHOMORES AND UP.

PLEASE GO CHECK IT OUT, THEY HAVE INTERVIEWS THAT START IN FEBRUARY I BELIEVE BUT CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE AND IF YOU HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY PARTICULARLY FOR FIRST GEN STUDENTS. ADDITIONALLY THE COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT ENHANCE MY GRANT APPLICATION OF THE CITY OF THOUSAND OAKS ALSO FOR OUR COMMUNITIES MS WW WT OAKES.ORG/GRANTS. ANYBODY INTERESTED CHECK IT OUT OUR SCHOOLS HAVE BENEFITED GREATLY FROM THE PARTNERSHIP AND I'M GRATEFUL FOR THAT. I AM ALSO GRATEFUL FOR PARTNERS IN THIS WORK DOES APPEAR, THOSE IN THE CLASSROOM, THOSE ON THE SITE, THOSE WILLING TO WORK EVERY DAY TIRELESSLY FOR OUR

[00:55:02]

STUDENTS IN OUR SCHOOLS. , TOP TO BOTTOM THE LIST IS A SINLESS AS MY GRATITUDE AND I WILL NOT GO ON AND ON BUT I WILL SAY I WANT TO SHOUT OUT TO TWO SPECIAL PEOPLE THAT MAKE THINGS WORK WITHOUT ANYBODY NOTICING SHERRY FELLMAN AND THE OTHER IS RICHARD BLAKE IN THE BACK BECAUSE WITHOUT THEM WE WOULD BE LOST, THANK YOU WILL AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

>> THINK YOU TRUSTEE GOLDBERG, GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

I WOULD THINK MY COLLEAGUES ARE REPORTING AND I AGREE COMPLETELY WITH EVERYTHING THAT WAS SAID, THINKING TO THE PUBLIC COMMENTERS ESPECIALLY ERIC, CASEY, DAVID THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GOOD WORK IN YOUR IDEAS, WE HEARD YOU.

THANK YOU TO LEANNE HOLLAND I BELIEVE THAT FIVE OF OUR ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETINGS SINCE THE LAST TIME WE WERE TOGETHER AT A BOARD MEETING WE HAD SEVEN ALTOGETHER AND THAT DISTRIBUTED A LEADERSHIP MODEL AND HELPS ME DO MY JOB BETTER AND I BELIEVE IT MAKES A STRONGER BETTER DISTRICT BUT IT COMES WITH AN ENORMOUS COMMITMENT OF TIME AND ENERGY AND THOUGHT AND I APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH. I WILL SAY IN REFERENCE TO TRUSTEE SYLVESTER'S WONDERFUL COMMENTS THAT ONE OF THE CONVICTIONS THAT IS PRESENT IN OUR PERFORMING ARTS STRATEGIC PLAN IS ARTS EDUCATION IS ABSOLUTELY FUNDAMENTAL AND CORE TO WHAT WE DO IT IS NOT AN EXTRA IS NOT ENRICHMENT AVAILABLE FOR ONLY SOME OF OUR STUDENTS IN SOME OF THE EVIDENCE ABOUT THE WONDERFUL PRODUCTION OF OKLAHOMA WE SAW WAS CHOREOGRAPHED VIA CVUSD ALUM MAX ALL OF OUR IT IS GOOD TO KNOW THEIR CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND THE WORK THAT WE DO THE STRATEGIC PLAN IS MAKING MORE OF THOSE AVAILABLE FOR SOME OF OUR KIDS.

I WAS VERY, VERY HAPPY TO ATTEND THE PATRIOT ACT ASSEMBLY WHICH IS AN ANNUAL OCCURRENCE AND A MOVING CEREMONY IN THE BANYAN FAMILY IS FILLED WITH VETERANS AND CURRENT SERVICE MEMBERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS AND I BELIEVE THERE WERE 40 OF THE FOLKS IN UNIFORM WHO WERE FAMILY MEMBERS OF OUR CURRENT BANYAN STUDENTS.

IT WAS WONDERFUL TO BE THERE AND TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH SOME OF THEM AND IT MADE ME INCREDIBLY PROUD TO WATCH OUR BANYAN BOBCATS DO WHAT THEY DO SO WELL. THIS PAST WEEK WE CONDUCTED A BOARD SELF-EVALUATION THE FIRST ONE WE HAVE DONE IN THIS DISTRICT AND I WANT TO TAKE MY COLLEAGUES VERY, VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME COMMITMENT

[H. Comments - Superintendent]

AND ALSO THIS POINT FEEDBACK IS TO CONTINUE WITH THE LANGUAGE AS IS IN THE LANGUAGE THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED IN VERSION 15 OF THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS. SO EVERY TIME YOU'RE FRUSTRATED WITH ME, MAYBE DOCTOR HAYEK WERE OUR BOARD KNOW THAT WERE WORKING WITH AN ATTORNEY WHO IS PROVIDING GUIDANCE WE ALWAYS TURN TO THE ATTORNEY FOR GUIDANCE.

[01:00:01]

THE OTHER PIECE TO THIS OUR BOARD IS MADE AWARE OF EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS ON A DAILY BASIS FOR A COUPLE DATABASES WHEN COMMUNICATION IS PUT ACROSS THE AISLE.

I WILL UPLOAD OUR STRING OF E-MAILS THAT WE'VE HAD SINCE THE LAST BOARD MEETING SO OUR COMMUNITY IS AWARE OF WHERE WE SIT. I WOULD BE VERY TRANSPARENT AND IN THIS PROCESS WILL CARTON AND OBVIOUSLY OUR BOARD WHO KNOWS WHERE WERE AT OUR COMMUNITY AND AGAIN, WERE NOT TO GO FISHING FOR AN OPINION. WE WILL STICK WITH THE ATTORNEY THAT WE ARE WORKING WITH AN INDIVIDUAL FEELS STRONGLY THAT THIS LANGUAGE WHENEVER HE CAME INTO THE NEGOTIATIONS I CANNOT SPEAK TO THAT BUT IT NEEDS TO STAY IN AT THIS POINT THAT IS OUR STANCE. THAT WILL BE THE CONTINUED CONVERSATION UNLESS SOMETHING COMES UP IN OUR ATTORNEY MOVES US A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW IT IS NOT MYSELF, DOCTOR HAYEK, OR BOARD PRESIDENT, NOBODY AT THE DAIS TAKING ACTION WERE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH AN ATTORNEY AND IT'S BEEN THE SANGHA TRAIN ATTORNEY WITHOUT THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS. WITH THAT I WANT TO WISH EVERYBODY A SAFE THANKSGIVING BREAK.

TIME TO REST, RELAX HOPEFULLY WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND GET A LITTLE BIT A BREAK OF THE NORMAL ROUTINE.

THANK YOU. >> THANK YOU, DOCTOR MACLACHLAN.

[A. Business Services - Approval of Resolution #23/24-15: Authorizing the District to Apply for Grant Funds from the California Schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency Program]

WE'RE GOING TO MOVE TO HER ACTION ITEM WE ARE AT IIIA BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION 23/2415 AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FUND FROM CALIFORNIA HEALTHY AIR, AND EFFICIENCY PROGRAM, MAY I HAVE A MOTION

SPIRIT TRUSTEE GORBACK. >> I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE RESOLUTION 23/2415 AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT TO APPLY FOR GRANT FUNDS ON THE CALIFORNIA HEALTHY AIR PLUMBING AND EFFICIENCY

PROGRAM AS OMITTED. >> SECOND.

>> THANK YOU. IT IS BEEN MOVED AND SECONDED.

, DOCTOR HAYEK IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY ABOUT THIS BEFORE WE OPEN IT UP TO DISCUSSION?

>> THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE DISTRICT TO CAPTURE GRANT FUNDS FOR FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS AND UPDATES, LATER ON IN CONSENT WHICH I BELIEVE IT WAS PULLED OFF FOR FURTHER DISCUSSION WE NEED TO DO THE RESOLUTION TO APPLY FOR THE GRANT AND THEN WE WILL PUT FORWARD THE CONTRACT FOR APPROVAL TO DO THE WORK.

>> THANK YOU. ANY DISCUSSION BOARD MEMBERS?

OKAY, I DO NOT SEE ANY, LESKO. >> TRUSTEE KAHL.

>> ESTIMATE TRUSTEE POWELL. >> YES.

MAY I PLEASE HAVE A MOTION. >> PRESIDENT GAIL.

>> TRUSTEE GOLDBERG I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE LETTER ON THE THOUSAND OAKS CROSSING GUARD PROGRAM AS OMITTED.

>> SECOND. >> THANK YOU FOR THE SECOND.

IT IS BEEN MOVED AND SECONDED. I WILL JUST SAY THIS IS A FOLLOW-ON TO THE DISCUSSION THAT WE HAD TWO WEEKS AGO.

IN THE INTERIM I HAVE DRAFTED A LETTER FOR CONSIDERATION IT IS POSTED ON THE AGENDA AND THE FLOOR IS OPEN FOR DISCUSSION, SUGGESTIONS FOR CHANGES, ANYTHING AT ALL?

YES? >> THANK YOU FOR FORGIVENESS FORWARD. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD, I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE LONG, I DID MY BEST TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO CUT AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT YOU FEEL THAT YOU CAN CUT THAT IS ALWAYS A PROBLEM RIGHT I HAD ONE OR TWO SUGGESTIONS THAT I HAD I WOULD THROW OUT THERE I'M NOT NECESSARILY LIKE GOING TO DIE ON THE CELL BUT I DID NOT LOVE THE LAST SENTENCE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FIRST PAGE, THE FEW SENTENCES STARTING THE STREETS AND THE PEOPLE. I WONDERED IF WE INSTEAD HAVING OUR SHARED VALUES THAT WE HAD WITH THE CITY LIKE SOMETHING THAT WE SEE THE SAFETY OF OUR STREETS AND PROTECTING PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS IS AN ATTRIBUTE THAT THEY BOTH VALUE GREATLY BECAUSE THAT WOULD MOVE RIGHT INTO THAT WE ALL AGREE THE STUDENTS TO WALK TO SCHOOL BENEFIT IN MANY WAYS NOT WAS ONE

[01:05:03]

SUGGESTION. AND THEN I HAD ANOTHER ONE SHOULD I GO AHEAD AND THROW IT OUT THERE.

>> THAT WE RESPOND VERY BRIEFLY, I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENT AND I BASICALLY AGREE, THE CONCLUSION TALKS ABOUT A VALUED SPACE GOVERNING APPROACH THAT WE SHARE WITH THE CITY AND THAT WE DO, THERE IS A JURISDICTIONAL QUESTION AND THAT'S WITH THOSE SENTENCES AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE ONE I REALLY REFERRING TO.

, WE CAN CERTAINLY MODIFY THAT'S WHY THEY'RE THERE.

>> MY OTHER I FELT LIKE WE WERE MISSING A COMMENT UNLESS I MISSED IT IN THE FACT THAT I WANTED TO MAKE CLEAR, IT IS NOT ALWAYS A CHOICE IS NOT JUST ABOUT I WANT TO WALK TO SCHOOL BECAUSE IT'S HEALTHY FOR ME, THERE ARE SOME STUDENTS THAT HAVE TO WALK TO SCHOOL OR RIDE THEIR BIKE TO SCHOOL AND I WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT WITH A SENTENCE SOMEWHERE THAT WE MUST RECKON AS MANY OF OUR RESIDENTS INCLUDING STUDENTS RELY ON WALKING OR BIKING AS THEIR PRIMARY MODE OF TRANSPORT

OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. >> THANK YOU THOSE ARE GREAT COMMENTS, ANYBODY ELSE? YES PLEASE.

>> I LIKE WHAT TRUSTEE POWELL IS ADJUSTING.

I POSSIBLY HAVE TO READ WHAT SHE SAID BECAUSE IT WENT IN AND PRESIDENT GO THE LAST SENTENCE WE SEE THE STREET TO THE PEOPLE BELONG TO THE CITY OF THOUSAND OAKS THAT ACKNOWLEDGES WHO IS RESPONSIBLE BACK TO TO THE JURISDICTION AND THEN I DON'T KNOW DOCTOR POWELL IF YOU'RE SENTENCE FOLLOWED UP THERE WITH THE SHARED VALUES STATEMENT AND IF IT APPEARS, I'M NOT LOOKING

AT IT. >> I FELT BAD I WANTED TO

SHORTEN IT AND HERE I AM. >> YES IT IS LONG, THAT IS MY 2 CENTS AND RECOGNIZE THE JURISDICTION AND ALSO SET THEM UP TO SAY THE COMMUNITY NOT ONLY IN THAT SENSE BUT YOU KNOW WERE

RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EDUCATION. >> AGREE.

>> THE FACT THAT WE HAVE COMMON GOALS WITH THEM IS REALLY

IMPORTANT. >> WEALTH ANYBODY ELSE? DO WE WANT TO MAKE THE MODIFICATIONS AND BRING IT BACK OR DO YOU TRUST ME TO MAKE THESE MODIFICATIONS, CHECK IN WITH

BOTH OF YOU THAT IS OKAY. >> DO YOU WANT ME TO CHANGE MY

MOTION AS ENDED. >> IF WE HAVE A CONSENSUS.

>> IT LOOKS LIKE WE DO. >> YES PLEASE.

>> I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THE LETTER AS AMENDED.

>> SECOND AGAIN. >> THANK YOU.

ITEMS PULLED BEGINNING WITH B. MAY I HAVE A MOTION.

>> PRESIDENT GILL. >> TRUSTEE SYLVESTER.

>> I MOVE THAT WE AWARD THE CONTRACT FOR THE SECURITY CAMERA PROJECT DISTRICT WIDE TO PACIFIC ONE DOING BUSINESS AS TS

EDUCATION AS OMITTED. >> MAY HAVE A SECOND.

>> SECOND. >> THINK YOU.

IT IS BEEN MOVED AND SECONDED. WE HAVE SOME DISCUSSION,

QUESTIONS? >> I JUST WANT AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT THE THREE ALTERNATIVE ADD-ONS WERE FOR THIS PROJECT AND DOES THAT MEAN IF OR NOT WE ARE TOTED OF ONE, TWO, THREE THEY DON'T HAVE CAMERAS WHERE THEY HAVE THE OLD CAMERAS, JUST

AN EXPLANATION. >> THE BASE BID COVERS ALL OF HER ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS THAT SOME HAVE CAMERA SYSTEMS BUT THEIR OUTDATED AND MOST DO NOT SAID THE BASE BID COVERS ALL OF THE SCHOOLS AND OUR GOALS HAVE 100% COVERAGE FOR SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS THE ALTERNATE ONE, TWO, 31 IS A HIGH SCHOOL WHICH ALREADY EACH HAVE THEIR OWN CAMERA SYSTEM AND TWO

[01:10:04]

AND THREE OF THE DISTRICT OFFICES IN MITCHELL ROAD IN RANCHO CONEJO THEY ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN CAMERA SYSTEM.

WE ARE ACCEPTING THE BASE BID TO DO THE SCHOOLS THAT DO NOT HAVE THEM. WE'RE GOING TO GET THE SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH CHANGING OVER THE CAMERA SYSTEMS AND LEAVING THE EXISTING WIRING AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT OFFICES BEFORE WE MOVED FORWARD WITHOUT THE STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO GET THE SYSTEM UP AND RUNNING AND SENSE THE ALTERNATE 30 HI CAMERAS WE CAN LEAVE THEM IN PLACE BUT DEPENDING ON HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS, OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE 100% COVERAGE CAMERA SURVEILLANCE ALL OF OUR CAMPUSES AND WE WILL HAVE THAT REGARDLESS OF THE ALTERNATES IS JUST A MATTER FROM ONE SYSTEM OR NOT.

>> THANK YOU FOR THE EXPLANATION.

ON THIS ITEM? >> WE ALREADY VOTED ON AGREEING

TO PARTICIPATE. >> CORRECT.

>> BUT NOW WERE BEING ASKED TO APPROVE THIS IS REALLY THE GRANT APPLICATION, THE FUNDING CAME THROUGH AND ITS RELATED TO PLUMBING AND IT'S AVAILABLE AND WE HAVE TO DO THAT RESOLUTION INTO THAT RESOLUTION AND WEIGHT WE BROUGHT THE RESOLUTION FORWARD IN THE CONTRACT TO DO THE WORK AT THE SAME TIME SO WE CAN GET THIS DONE QUICKER AND EXCEPT THOSE OVER $500,000 IN THE GRANT FUNDS AND WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WORKS.

THANK YOU. THE PRICING IS THAT THE STANDARD

BRINGING US RAPIDLY TO HER INFORMATION DISCUSSION SECTION

[A. Instructional Services - Presentation: Formative Data and Student Software in CVUSD]

OF THE AGENDA WE ARE AT FIVE A AND STRUCTURAL SERVICES PRESENTATION ON INFORMATIVE DATA J DATA AND SOFTWARE AT CVUSD.

WELCOME. >> GETTING IMPREZA GO, DOCTOR MCLAUGHLIN, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND EXECUTIVE CABINET IT IS A PLEASURE TO BE HERE WITH YOU THIS EVENING.

TONIGHT WE WILL TALK ABOUT OUR FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT DATA AND OR SOFTWARE THAT SUPPORTS THAT. BEFORE HE MOVES TOO FAR ALONG I WANTED NO TO THE BOARD THAT THIS WAS A REQUEST FROM BOARD MEMBER PAL I THINK A WHILE BACK AND IT WAS ON HER AGENDA IN A PRESENTATION AND REMOVE TO THE PRESENTATION AT A BOARD MEETING.

WITHOUT A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CREDIT HOW WE GOT HERE AND GO

FOR IT DOCTOR SUTER. >> VICKI DOCTOR MCGLOTHLIN.

[01:15:04]

TONIGHT WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THEM FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT DATA COLLECTION THAT OCCURS AS A RUG UNDER REGULAR INSTRUCTIONAL DAY. WERE ALSO GOING TO TALK ABOUT SPECIFIC DISTRICT WIDE SOFTWARE THAT WE USE.

WHEN WE THINK ABOUT INFORMATIVE DATA AND FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT, TEACHERS EVERYDAY ACROSS GRADE LEVELS AND CONTENT AREAS UTILIZE AGE CONTENT APPROPRIATE STRATEGIES.

AND THE GOAL HERE IS TO MONITOR STUDENT PROGRESS SO NOT ONLY TEACHERS CAN GUIDE INSTRUCTION AND ADJUST AS THEY GO BUT ALSO SO STUDENTS CAN BECOME EMPOWERED TO MONITOR THEIR OWN.

THAT IS THE GOAL ULTIMATELY. YOU WANT EVERY STUDENT TO COME INTO YOUR CLASSROOM EVERY DAY TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THEM IN THE KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE IN THE LEARNING PROCESS. IT IS REALLY HARD TO NOT UNDERSTAND EXPECTATIONS AND NOT BE ABLE TO MEET THEM.

AND IF HE DID THEM TO DIG A LITTLE DEEPER INTO EXAMPLES CLASSROOM TEACHERS IN THE MULTITUDE OF STRATEGIES SOME ARE LISTED APPEAR BUT THE REALLY PART I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE OF THE STRATEGIES THAT PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK, IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK LET'S THINK ABOUT WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE. IF YOU CONSIDER A RESEARCHER NAMED RICHARD WHO IS ONE OF THE LEADING RESEARCHERS THAT HAS BEEN FOR YEARS ON PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES AND FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES, HE COINED SOMETHING 15 YEARS AGO SUPER MARIO EFFECT. AND IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH SUPER MARIO BROTHERS WHEN YOU PLAY THE OLD GAME THAT CAME OUT IN 1988 YOU ARE RUNNING ALONG AND COLLECTING YOUR GOLD COINS AND THEN YOU FALL DOWN THE CABINET AND IT START YOU OVER.

YOU LEARN RIGHT AWAY DON'T FALL DOWN THE CAVERN.

THAT IS WHAT THE GOAL IS, TEACH KIDS RIGHT AWAY HERE IS WHERE WE NEED TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS. AND THAT'S WHERE THIS COMES INTO PLAY. SO THE SOFTWARE THAT HELPS DO THIS SOME EXAMPLES ARE WILL TALK TO THESE IN-DEPTH AND HOW THEY USE THEM WE HAVE THE SGI IT IS A FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT SOFTWARE SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR YOUNGEST LEARNERS WE USED TK THROUGH DO WE HAVE IXL WHICH IS THE TIER ONE INTERVENTION PROGRAM IN INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT SOFTWARE. WE HAVE ALEXIA POUR FIVE WHICH IS THE TIER TWO INTERVENTION SOFTWARE FOR LEADING SPECIFICALLY IN MASTERY CONNECT WHICH IS THE STUDENT ASSESSMENT SYSTEM WHICH ALLOWS A WIDE VARIETY OF ASSESSMENTS TO BE DELIVERED TO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TO RECEIVE IMMEDIATE EVEN AND THEN WE HAVE SCHOLASTIC WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY A TESTING SYSTEM AND HAS OTHER FEATURES WERE TALKING ABOUT AS WELL.

OUR FIRST ONE IS ES G.I., ES G.I. WE CURRENTLY OFFER IT TO ALL TEACHERS IN TK THROUGH TO AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVELS IN ALL SCHOOLS THAT HAVE ACCESS TO IF THEY WANT TO USE IT AND THIS YEAR ALMOST EVERYBODY IS USING THE AND ON BOARD WITH IT WHICH IS GREAT. AND WHY IT SAVES TEACHERS TIME.

IN THE ASSESSMENT FOR THE BENCHMARK OF THE TRIMESTERS THOSE ARE ALL INCLUDED FOR BOTH READING AND MATHEMATICS FOR ALL OF THOSE GRADE LEVELS TEACHERS CAN GET A VARIETY OF REPORTS FROM CLASS TOTALS AND ITEM ANALYSIS SO THEY COULD SEE SPECIFICALLY WITH THE CLASS IS STRUGGLING IN INDIVIDUAL STUDENT REPORTS AND THEY CAN GROUP STUDENTS IN ORDER TO CREATE SMALL INTERVENTION GROUPS FOR CENTERS IN THEIR CLASSES AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS OF STUDENT REPORTS AFTER TEACHERS ARE PRETTY CLOSE AND GIVING THEM TO CONFERENCES.

AS WELL. AND PARENTS CAN SUPPORT THEIR STUDENTS IN THE THINGS OF THE STRUGGLING WITH.

, HOW IT CAME TO CVUSD THERE'S TWO KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS HAD A COLLABORATIVE MEETING WERE TALKING AND SAYING THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO ANALYZE OUR CLASSROOM DATA.

OUR TEACHERS HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY IN CREATING EXCELLENT ASSESSMENTS IN READING AND MATH THEY DO IT COLLABORATIVELY AND WE ALWAYS HAVE TITLE I REPRESENTATION AND WE HAVE HIGH END WILL REPRESENTATION AND THEY COME TO CONSENSUS ABOUT WHAT THE STUDENT WORKING AT GRADE LEVEL SHOULD

[01:20:03]

MEET AND ACHIEVE THAT AND TO CARE CARDEN TEACHERS FOUND ES G.I. ONLINE AND THEY PAID FOR IT THEMSELVES OUT OF THEIR OWN PARKING FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS. EVERYONE ELSE KEPT DOING THINGS ON PAPER AND JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA WHAT THIS IS LIKE MOST OF THESE ASSESSMENTS ARE INDIVIDUAL ONE-ON-ONE THE TEACHER SITS DOWN ACROSS FROM THE STUDENT AND GIVE SOME OF THE ASSESSMENTS INDICATED AND THEY TEST NAMING LETTERS, LETTER SOUNDS, HIGH-FREQUENCY WORDS THAT ARE AGE-APPROPRIATE FOR EXAMPLE IN THEIR DOING THESE ASSESSMENTS ONE-ON-ONE AND MARKING THEM ALL WITH THE STUDENT RECORDING SHEET AND THEN THEY WOULD TAKE THAT IN A PAPER SPREADSHEET AND THEY WOULD HANDWRITE IT ALL SO THEN THEY WOULD GET THE WHOLE CLASS ON ONE SHEET AND THEN THEY WOULD CALCULATE WITH THE REPORT CARD GRADES THREE, TEWS, ONCE ON THE REPORT CARD STANDARD AND MARK THOSE AND WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR FEAR CONFERENCES THEY CREATED A SEPARATE REPORT FOR EVERY PARENT. ES G.I. DOES NOT WORK FOR THEM.

IF WE GO TO THE NEXT ONE WE CAN TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE PICTURES AND WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE.

HERE IN SECOND GRADE PHONICS AND LOOKING AT THE SKILLS TEST UC CVC LOSER CVC WORDS SO THE THREE LETTER WORDS, CONSONANT VOWEL CONSONANT WORDS LIKE CAT, BED, WORDS LIKE THAT.

SO WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING AT THIS IS A DISTRICT WIDE REPORT AND THE IS 628 STUDENTS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE TESTED AND THAT AND OF THE 93% WE ARE GETTING THEM CORRECT.

THEY HAVE A 93% AVERAGE ON THAT. IF YOU LOOK AT THE OTHER WHATEVER HERE, THIS IS AN ITEM ANALYSIS.

TEACHERS AFFECT GRAPHS AND GET THE YEARS WHERE MY CLASSES IN A SMALLER GROUP OF MY KIDS AND HERE'S THE TOTAL AND WHAT THIS ALLOWS IT TO DO ON GROUP INTERVENTION AND MOST OF OUR STUDENTS ARE GETTING IT, SMALL GROUP INTERVENTION EXAMPLE SMALL GROUP OF STUDENTS WERE INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION AS NEEDED. SCHOOLS HAVE INTERVENTION SPECIALIST, WE HAVE A HANDFUL OF THOSE AND THEY CAN GIVE THE DATA TO PROVIDE EXTRA SUPPORT. NEXT IXL IS ANOTHER ONE THAT STARTED AS A GRASSROOTS EFFORT IN THE DISTRICT WE HAD A HANDFUL OF SCHOOLS WHO STARTED BUYING GRADE LEVELS MAY BE A YEARS AGO OR NINE YEARS AGO WE HAD A FEW MORE SCHOOLS, THEN WE HAD A FEW MORE THAN WE HAD EVERYBODY WANTING IT AND THEN WE HAD THE INFUSION OF ONE TIME STIMULUS MONEY WE SAID WE'RE GOING TO PURCHASE THIS FOR EVERYONE TO HELP MITIGATE LEARNING LOSS FROM THE PANDEMIC. IXL IS A RESOURCE BASED PLATFORM AND WE OFFER IT TO ALL OF HER TK FIVE STUDENTS IN MATH AND ELA AND WE OFFER TO ALL SIX THROUGH EIGHT STUDENTS IN MATH AND THE VAST MAJORITY OF SIX THROUGH EIGHT AND ELA AND HIGH SCHOOL WE OFFER TO HIGH SCHOOL BASED ON WHICH TEACHERS WERE BASICALLY SAYING YES I WILL USE IT AND BASED ON PRIOR USAGE.

WE DID NOT WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON LICENSES THAT WERE GOING TO GO UNUSED. IF STUDENTS COMPLETE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME IN THE SOFTWARE THE RESEARCH THAT HAS BEEN DONE ON THE PLATFORM SHOWS THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES. THE NUMBER THAT YOU'RE SEEING 3.2 MILLION QUESTIONS FROM OUR STUDENTS WAS ACTUALLY AS OF A FEW WEEKS AGO I JUST CHECKED IN TONIGHT WERE ABOUT 4.1.

NOT SO 12181 STUDENTS ACTIVELY USING THE PLATFORM IN OUR DISTRICT. THIS IS A FEW WEEKS AGO FROM ONE TEACHER, ONE TEACHER CLASSROOM, 11030 QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 22 SKILL SETS THE STUDENTS AND PRACTICE, THOSE SKILL SETS WERE BASED ON GRADE LEVEL SKILL SETS AND PREREQUISITE SKILLS SETS THE SOFTWARE DETERMINE HAD BEEN STRUGGLING WITH. THERE WERE NECESSARY FOR THEM TO PERFORM AT HIGH LEVELS IN THE CURRENT CLASS.

, FROM THIS THE TEACHER CAN TAKE A LOOK AT WHICH STUDENTS ARE

[01:25:08]

PRACTICING INHABITING THE GETTING CORRECT BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED TO BE IN ALGEBRA TWO TEACHER AND SOMETIMES THE PESSIMIST PERSON CAN SAY TEENAGERS WANT TO GET THEIR HOMEWORK DONE SO WHETHER THEY GET THEM RIGHT OR WRONG.

NUMBER ONE THE SOFTWARE WON'T LET YOU FINISH IF YOU DO THAT.

ALSO WHAT WE ARE FINDING CLASSROOMS WORDS IMPLEMENTED STUDENTS AREN'T TRYING TO DO THAT.

IN FACT A LOT OF KIDS LOVE THE LEADERBOARD.

BECAUSE IT BECOMES A GAME HOW WELL CAN I DO AGAINST MY FRIENDS HOW WELL CAN I DO AGAINST THE REST OF MY CLASS AND AGAINST THE REST OF MY SCHOOL AND BECOMES A COMPETITION.

>> A QUICK QUESTION HOW DO WE SEE THIS BEING IMPLEMENTED IN CLASSES AS IT BEING DONE IN CENTER ACTIVITIES IS A WHOLE CLASS WORKING ON IT WHAT IS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE AND HAVE

TEACHERS ARE USING THIS ACROSS. >> IT DEPENDS ON THE GRADE LEVEL INTO DEPENDS ON THE TEACHER AND AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL WHERE THIS IS AN EXAMPLE A LOT OF TIMES THESE ARE ASSIGNMENTS GIVEN US HOMEWORK AND THE TEACHER MIGHT GIVE STUDENTS TIME TO WORK ON CLASS AND THE STUDENTS MIGHT WORK ON THEM AT LUNCH OR IN THE LIBRARY, THE GREEN AND BLUE BARS THAT YOU SEE THIS IS ACTUALLY THE PRACTICE OF THE TEACHER STUDENTS, THE GREEN PART IS THAT SCHOOL IN THE BLUE PART IS AT HOME.

>> WE ARE NOT SEEING, THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT THE TEACHER WOULD DO IT DURING THE COURSE OF THE DAY.

>> NODDED. >> THAT IS A LOT OF QUESTIONS I

JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE. >> ACROSS 12000 STUDENTS IN WHAT WEEK ARE WE IN SCHOOL WERE COMING UP ON 15 OR 16TH WEEK.

IF YOU DIVIDED BY 15 WEEKS, 12181 STUDENTS, YOU'RE GETTING THAT NUMBER DOWN TO WHERE STUDENTS ARE COMPLETING 30

QUESTIONS A WEEK. >> INC. E.

>> JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I MAY OR MAY HAVE NOT CALCULATED THAT

BEFORE THE MEETING. >> WAY TO ANTICIPATE.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE STUFF IN SCHOOL THIS IS DURING SCHOOL HOURS. IT DOES NOT TRACK WHERE A STUDENT IS OR WHERE THEY LOGIN FROM THIS IS JUST DURING THE SCHOOL HOURS SO FOR STUDENT IS WORKING ON IXL AT LUNCHTIME OR AFTER SCHOOL THE LIBRARY BEFORE THE 4:00 P.M. WHEN WE CALL IT NO LONGER SCHOOL HOURS THEN ACCOUNTS IN THE GREEN AREA.

OKAY ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF TEACHER REPORTS WE HAVE A GROWING NUMBER OF TEACHERS USING THE DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE EMBEDDED INTO IXL, WHAT IS NICE ABOUT THIS IT GIVES IT A RESEARCH-BASED GRADE LEVEL EQUIVALENT OF WHERE THE STUDENT IS PERFORMING. IF I'M A FIFTH-GRADE TEACHER I MAY SEE A SCORE OF 520 AND WHAT THAT MEANS A STUDENT IS GOING OUT FIFTH-GRADE DURING THE SECOND MONTH.

ONE IT'LL GIVE YOU THE LEVELS OF YOUR STUDENT SO YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK AT I HAVE THE MAJORITY OF MY STUDENTS WERE SCORING HIGH ON CURRENT GRADE LEVEL CONTENT OR HAVE THE FIVE STUDENTS WERE SCORING MUCH LOWER ON GRADE LEVEL CONTENT.

IT ALSO GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS FOR PREREQUISITE SKILLS FOR THOSE STUDENTS TO MASTER. IT WILL ALSO GIVE THE STUDENTS THAT SO AS THE TEACHER I PUSH OUT THOSE SUGGESTIONS OR I SAY AYE DON'T WANT YOU TO OVERWHELM MY STUDENTS WITH ALL OF THE SUGGESTIONS SO I'M JUST GOING TO PUSH OUT THESE THREE.

IF I HAVE A STUDENT WHO IS STRUGGLING A FIFTH-GRADE STUDENT WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH THE THIRD GRADE SKILL AND STRUGGLING WITH FOURTH GRADE SKILLS MAY BE A PUSH AT THE THIRD GRADE SKILL, THE PRACTICE, GET BETTER AND THEN I PUSH AT THE FOURTH GRADE SKILLS. THOSE SHOW UP ON THE DASHBOARD, THE NEXT ONE, THIS ONE WAS SPECIFICALLY IMPLEMENTED IN

[01:30:04]

RESPONSE TO LEARNING LOSS FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WE'VE NEVER USED IN THE DISTRICT PRIOR TO THAT BUT WHAT WE WERE CONCERNED WITH WE WERE CONCERNED WITH STUDENTS GETTING BEHIND IN READING AND AS RESEARCH SHOWS READING IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL SETS FOR STUDENTS TO HAVE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL. THIS IS REALLY IMPLEMENTED AS A TIER TWO INTERVENTION PRODUCT, IXL WAS TIER ONE OR THE BEGINNING INSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST-RATE INSTRUCTION AND LEXI A WE PURCHASE FOR STUDENTS WERE STILL STRUGGLING HERE IS ANOTHER LAYER, WHAT WE WERE FINDING THE STUDENTS WERE ACTUALLY SPENDING -- STRUGGLING TO FINISH OTHER PRODUCTS THEY WERE STRUGGLING WITH THE OTHER THINGS IN THIS CASE SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN A LITTLE BIT MORE PRESCRIPTIVE THE BIG THINGS THAT STUDENTS SEE OUT OF LEXI DACEY USAGE OF WHO IS MEETING TARGETS THAT WEEK AND TARGETS COULD BE ON SKILL SETS THAT THEY MASTERED AND IN THE BAR GRAPHS THESE WERE TAKEN RIGHT AFTER A NEW CONTRACT STARTED MID-YEAR AND IT DOES NOT START JULY 1, THE BARGRAPH OCCURRED TWO WEEKS AFTER OUR NEXT CONTRACT STARTED SO STUDENTS ONLY HAD A COUPLE WEEKS TO MASTER NEW SKILLS.

SO IF YOU LOOK AT THIS THE LARGER THE BLUE BAR THE MORE SKILLS STUDENTS HAVE MASTERED. AFTER TWO WEEKS YOU SAW THE BLUE PART OF THE BAR GROW. WITHIN THE DASHBOARD OF THE SOFTWARE YOU CAN ACTUALLY CLICK AND YOU CAN SEE SPECIFICS ON STUDENTS AND SPECIFICS ON SKILL SETS THAT THEY ARE MASTERING AND YOU CAN ALSO SEE SUGGESTIONS OF WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO MOVE

FORWARD IN THEIR SKILL SETS. >> OKAY.

>> LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, WE HAVE A NEW SOFTWARE THIS YEAR, ACTUALLY THIS IS NOT THE LAST ONE I APOLOGIZE.

WE HAVE A NEW SOFTWARE CALLED SCHOLASTIC LITERACY PROBE IT IS DESIGNED REALLY FOR A LACK STYLE ASSESSMENT THAT HAS ADDITIONAL FEATURES FOR THE BETTER PART OF THREE DECADES WE HAD A PIECE OF SOFTWARE CALLED READING INVENTORY.

AND ALSO A COMPANION SOFTWARE CALLED READING COUNTS.

READING INVENTORY WOULD TEST THEIR EXILE LEVELS IN READING COUNTS WOULD ALLOW THEM TO READ BOOKS AND TAKE COMPREHENSION ASSESSMENTS BASED ON THOSE BOOKS THAT WOULD EARN POINTS FOR LITTLE PRIZES LIKE PENCILS AND ERASERS AND THINGS LIKE THAT FOR READING BASICALLY. WE RECEIVED A YEAR AGO NOTICE FROM A VENDOR THAT THEY WERE DISCONTINUING READING INVENTORY AND READING COUNTS SO WE HAD TO FIND SOMETHING NEW, BASED ON FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS WHAT WE HEARD WAS WE REALLY WANTED KEEP A LACK STYLE ASSESSMENT IS WHATEVER ENGLISH LEARNER REDESIGNATION DATA POINTS. IT'S SOMETHING THAT TEACHERS USED TO HELP KIDS FIND BOOKS THAT ARE JUST RIGHT FOR THEM TO READ THAT ARE AT THEIR LEVEL. IT HELPS IN THOSE TYPES OF AREAS IN READING IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL SETS FOR STUDENTS. LITERACY PROBE IS WHAT WE CAME WITH WE THE GROUP OF STAKEHOLDERS AND WE HAD TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS DISTRICT OFFICE, MEET WITH SEVERAL VENDORS AND THIS IS WHAT WE SETTLED ON.

ONE THING THAT IS NICE ABOUT THIS THAT WE NEVER HAD WITH RI OR RC THAT THIS INCLUDES 4000 E-BOOKS FOR KIDS.

NOW THAT WERE ONE TO ONE SCHOOL DISTRICT, STUDENTS DON'T HAVE TO CARRY THOSE BOOKS HOME THEIR PARENTS DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THEM TO THE LIBRARY THE STUDENT CAN LOGIN FROM THE CHROME BOOK AND ACCESS OR THOUSAND E-BOOKS. IN THE SOFTWARE BASED ON HOW THEY PERFORM ON THE LACK STYLE ASSESSMENT THE SOFTWARE WILL SUGGEST BOOKS FOR THEM. AND STUDENTS CAN SORT BY INTEREST, THEY CAN SORT IF THEY WANT TO STRETCH THEMSELVES, IT'LL SAY HERE IS YOUR STRETCH. THAT IS ONE OF THE NICE THINGS ABOUT READING INVENTORY IN READING COUNTS GOING AWAY, WE

[01:35:04]

HAVE NEW FEATURES FOR STUDENTS. EXAMPLES OF REPORTS, THE BIG THING THAT WE GET OUT OF THIS WE GET ALEXEI A LEVEL FOR STUDENTS AND WE GET A PROFICIENCY LEVEL. SO YOU KNOW IF YOUR STUDENTS ARE PROFICIENT, ADVANCE OR BELOW GRADE LEVEL.

THERE IS A TOTAL OF FIVE LEVELS, ADVANCE, PROFICIENT, BASIC, BELOW BASIC AND FAR BELOW BASIC. AND IT WILL TELL THE TEACHER HOW FAR AWAY FROM PROFICIENCY EACH STUDENT IS AND IT WILL SUGGEST BOOKS BASED ON THAT. AND WE HAVE THIS IN OLIVER'S SCHOOLS TK EIGHT AGAIN WE HAVE AVERAGE SCORES ON THE ASSESSMENTS IN HERE WHERE IT SAYS THINK MORE, THESE ARE COMPREHENSION ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE ACTUALLY CREATED BASED ON THE E-BOOKS THAT ARE AVAILABLE IN THE SYSTEM.

SO THE STUDENT CAN READ THE BOOK OF SHORT COMPREHENSION ASSESSMENT THE TEACHER RECEIVES THE DATA ON THAT.

>> I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ONE MORE YOU GET TO SPEAK TO, BUT I'M CURIOUS YOUR PARENTS HAVE ACCESS TO REPORTS ON ANY OF THIS INFORMATION OR DO ALL THESE REPORTS NEED TO BE GENERATED BY THE TEACHER AND THEN PROVIDED TO PARENTS.

>> OF THESE SO FAR THAT YOU HAVE SEEN IF PARENTS LOGIN TO THE STUDENTS ACCOUNT THEY HAVE ACCESS TO ALL OF THAT, ALL OF THESE ARE AVAILABLE TO LINK SO IF THE STUDENT OPENS UP THE CHROME BOOK THEY CAN UP WITH THE CLASS LINK IN THE STUDENT APPEARING TOGETHER CAN GO INTO THE SYSTEM AND PULL ALL OF THIS INFORMATION. CONVERSELY, THE TEACHER CAN ALSO PROVIDED TO THEM. WE HAVE TEACHERS WHO ARE PROVIDING TO ALL OF THEIR PARENTS AND SAYING HERE IS THE BIGGEST REQUESTED THING THAT WE HAD ON SCHOLASTIC LITERACY PROBE LAST MONTH IS TEACHERS ASKING ABOUT REPORTS FOR PARENTS FOR CONFERENCES. I WANT TO GIVE EVERY PARENTLESS HAS BOOK SUGGESTIONS AND ALL OF THESE THINGS TO HELP THEM SUPPORT THEIR CHILD. THE LAST ONE IS MASTERY CLINIC IS THE GENERAL STUDENT ASSESSMENT SYSTEM IN THE SENSE OF IT BEING A GENERAL ASSESSMENT IS SIMILAR TO ES G.I. WHERE WE SET UP HER OWN ASSESSMENT. THIS IS REALLY USED IN GRADES THREE THROUGH 12. WE DO HAVE ITEM BANKS AVAILABLE TO TEACHERS AND WE DO HAVE SOME TEACHERS AT THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL USING THOSE TO CREATE THEIR OWN FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS AND DELIVERING THOSE THIS IS ALSO WHERE WE DELIVER ALL OF OUR BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS.

SO GRADE THREE THROUGH EIGHT WE HAVE BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT IN MATH AND ENGLISH-LANGUAGE ARTS AND THIS IS THE SYSTEM THAT WE USED TO DELIVER THOSE AND PULL THE ASSESSMENT DATA.

TYPES OF REPORTS WE HAVE ITEM ANALYSIS REPORT, STANDARD MASTERY BECAUSE ALL OF OUR ASSESSMENTS ARE ALIGNED TO STATE STANDARDS. WE DO PULL REPORT BY STANDARDS SO TEACHERS CAN SEE HOW THEY'RE PROGRESSING IN THAT WAY.

WE HAVE HAD MASTERY CONNECT FOR THREE YEARS AND IN THE THREE YEARS WE HAVE HAD 1456 ASSESSMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN BUILT IN THE SYSTEM AND WE HAVE 291,000 PLUS STUDENT SCORES PER ASSESSMENT. LETTER HOUSE THERE.

THE POWER OF MASTERY CONNECT, THIS IS THE PART THAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT THAN A LOT OF ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS OUT THERE.

MASTERY CONNECT REALLY IS BASED ON A STANDARD-BASED SYSTEM.

WE DID TEACHER LOGS INTO MASTERY CONNECT WHAT THEY SEE IT BECAUSE OF THE TRACKER, THE TRACKER INCLUDES ALL OF THE GRADE LEVEL STANDARDS FOR THAT SUBJECT AND THAT GRADE LEVEL AND WHAT IT DOES AS STUDENTS TAKE ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE ALIGNED TO THE STANDARDS IT BEGINS COLOR CODING SO THE TEACHER CAN LOGIN AND SEE HERE ARE MY STUDENTS, HERE IN THIS CASE THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF PART OF THE THIRD GRADE TRACKER SO WE HAVE THIRD GRADE, THREE MEASUREMENT AND THREE MEASUREMENT STANDARDS AND WE SEE HOW STUDENTS ARE PERFORMING ON THOSE.

IF YOU IMAGINE ESSENTIALLY A SPREADSHEET ON YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN THAT COLOR CODES EVERYTHING FOR YOU SO YOU CAN SEE RIGHT AWAY WHO IS STRUGGLING IN RIGHT AWAY WHO IS EXCELLING AND THEN YOU ALSO GET COLUMNS FOR HOW THEY'RE DOING ON THE SPECIFIC BENCHMARKS THEMSELVES SO WE DO NOT GIVE UP THE USE OF THE OVERALL SCORES IN THE USE OF THE OVERALL PROFICIENCY BUT THIS

[01:40:04]

ALLOWS THEM TO DRILL DOWN BY STANDARD.

THEY CAN ALSO GO WHEN THE ITEM ANALYSIS REPORTS AND STAY ON QUESTION 580% OF MY STUDENTS MISSED IT SO I NEED TO RETEACH THAT OR I NEED TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS A BAD QUESTION.

OKAY LAST BUT NOT LEAST, COST ASSOCIATED WITH THESE.

ES G.I. SCHOLASTIC LITERACY PRO AND MASTER CONNECTOR ALL GENERAL FUNDED. IXL WE TOOK OVER THE COST FOR THE FEW SCHOOL SITES PURCHASING AND WE PURCHASED IT MORE DISTRICT WIDE SO WE'VE BEEN IN PAIN FOR THE INVESTOR THREE STIMULUS MONEY IN LEXI ACCOR FIVE WE'VE ALSO BEEN PAYING OUT OF STIMULUS MONEY FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS.

QUESTIONS? >> THANK YOU SO MUCH I LEARNED A LOT. QUESTIONS, COMMENTS?

GO RIGHT AHEAD. >> FIRST OF ALL DOCTOR SUTER THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT, THE THING I LIKED ABOUT ON ALL THE PROGRAMS IS ACCESSIBILITY TO THE STUDENTS THAT THEY CAN SELF ADVOCATE, THEY ARE BEING GUIDED BUT THEY CAN ADVOCATE MORE FOR THEMSELVES AND I LIKE THAT. MY QUESTION IS ON THE LAST SL SLIDE. WE HAVE TWO OF THE PROGRAMS ON SR FUNDS WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE TEMPORARY.

>> WERE ACTUALLY HAVING ONGOING CONVERSATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES REGARDING USAGE OF ALL OF OUR PLATFORMS AND WE ARE TAKING A HARD LOOK AT PRIORITIZING THAT'S REALLY WHAT

IT COMES DOWN TO. >> IF I COULD ADD IT IS CERTAINLY DIFFICULT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PLATFORMS THAT WE USE SPECIFICALLY WITH THE FEDERAL DOLLARS THAT WERE SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS INTENT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL ACADEMIC SERVICES AND SUPPORT AND INTERVENTION FOR STUDENTS IN LIGHT OF LOST INSTRUCTIONAL TIME DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.

I THINK WHEN WE LOOK AT THAT THERE ARE PROBABLY A NUMBER OF WAYS AND OPTIONS AND CERTAINLY THE USAGE AS WELL AS RESULTS IS SOMETHING THAT WE DEFINITELY HAVE TO LOOK AT.

BUT IT COULD ALSO BE ENOUGH NOT LOOKING TO SEE OF THE ITEMS THAT WE ARE USING THAT ARE GENERALLY FUNDED, THE QUESTION ALSO BECOMES ABOUT USAGE AND IMPACT THERE AS WELL WERE NOT JUST THINKING TO HERSELF LIKE IXL IN LEXI CORE FIVE BUT WERE THINKING WITH THE BREATH OF THE PROGRAMS AND JUDGE OF THE EFFECTIVENESS INTO THE ANALYSIS OF USAGE AS WELL AS IMPACT THAT THAT MIGHT LEAD TO A REDUCTION IN SOME OF THOSE SO FOR INSTANCE THE COST CAN GO DOWN BASED ON THE USAGE OR IMPACT AND WHETHER THAT BE AT THE GRADE LEVEL OR THE TEACHER REQUEST SOMETIMES IT IS TRUE THAT WE PHASED OUT A NUMBER OF NEW PLATFORMS SINCE COVID-19 ESPECIALLY IN CONSIDERATION THAT WE PROBABLY START WITH THIS MANY WINCO BIDS STARTED AND WE KIND OF NARROW THE FIELD AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT. THE OTHER THING AS WELL TO MENTION THIS IS NOT OF COURSE A COMPLETE SOLUTION BUT IT'S DEFINITELY A POSSIBILITY THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO EXTEND SOME OF OUR SR THREE FUNDED SOFTWARE PROGRAMS IF WE PURCHASE THEM FOR NEXT YEAR BEFORE THE SEPTEMBER DEADLINE THAT'S ALSO A POSSIBILITY SHORT-TERM IS SOMETHING WE ARE CONSIDERING AS

WELL. >> I WOULD NOTE OUR TEACHERS BECOME EXPERTS, NOT IN ALL OF THESE BUT THEY BECOME EXPERTS IN ONE OR TWO AND THEY REALLY LIKE THE ONE OR TWO IN THE NEXT-DOOR NEIGHBOR TEACHER REALLY LIKE THOSE TWO THAT THE NEIGHBOR LIKES BUT THEY LIKE TO OTHERS. SO AS WE MAKE DECISIONS YOU CONTINUE TO RECEIVE E-MAILS FROM FOLKS IN THEIR FRUSTRATED SAME OR LOOKING AT THE LINE ITEM IN THE BUDGET PIECE WHICH WE HAVE

[01:45:03]

TO BUT THE OTHER THING EVERYONE HAS THEIR PREFERENCES IN ITS WHAT'S GOING TO GIVE US HER BIGGEST BANG FOR OUR BUCK IN THE LONG RUN AND WHEN WE MONITOR THESE WE LOOK AT USAGE N AND STUDENTS AND THEIR SIGNINGS IN A PARTICULAR CLASS OR WE MAY DIVE BACK INTO THE GRADEBOOK TO SEE IF THERE ARE GRADES ALIGNED TO ACTIVITIES WITHIN OUR TECHNOLOGY PLATFORMS SO AS NOT JUST A MATTER OF WE LIKE THIS OR WE DON'T LIKE THIS, WE ARE GOING THROUGH QUITE A BIT OF ANALYSIS ON THIS AND I KNOW OUR BOARD HAS HEARD FROM TEACHERS ON SOME OF THIS AND IT WAS SURPRISING TO GET THE DATA BACK ON WHO USES AND HOW MANY DO NOT USE IT IN ALL THE INFORMATION IS NOT JUST A LINE ITEM TO US, OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES WE HAVE TO LOOK AT AND WERE ALSO LOOKING AT USAGE AND AGAIN, THE BIGGEST BANG FOR OUR BUCK AS DOLLARS GO AWAY. STUART: SOMETIMES LIVE INDIVIDUAL TEACHERS THAT LIKE A PARTICULAR PLATFORM THAT IS NOT ONE OF THESE WERE ONES THAT WE SUPPORT AND IS ABOUT PROVIDING TRAINING INFORMATION LIKE YOU WANT THIS AND WE HAVE THIS THING THAT IS REALLY SIMILAR IN WHAT IS NICE WE CAN SUPPORT THESE AS A DISTRICT SO WE CAN OUTLOOK AND, PROVIDE TRAINING IN INDIVIDUAL SMALL GROUP TRAINING TO STAFF SO HAVING THE DISTRICT ADOPTED PROGRAMS THAT ARE IS A BENEFIT THERE AND WE CAN INVEST

IN PROVIDING TRAINING SUPPORT. >> FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOU, THAT WAS A LOT OF INFORMATION AND I THOUGHT I HAD KIND OF GOTTEN IT READING IT BUT YOU ADDED A LOT MORE COLOR AND BACKGROUND, I DO APPRECIATE IT. I AM GLAD TO HEAR THAT WERE LOOKING AT USAGE, THAT WAS ONE OF MY FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS, YOU MENTIONED WITH THE SGI THAT ALMOST ALL TEACHERS FOR THE GRADE THAT IS AVAILABLE FOR ARE USING IT AND IS A LITTLE UNCLEAR THE OTHER REMAINING PROGRAMS, THESE ARE JUST THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS I LIKE THE FACT THAT THE CONNECT SEEM TO BE WELL SUITED FOR THE MASTERY GRADING BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY THE FOUNDATION, I APPRECIATE THAT. USAGES ARE PART OF THE EQUATION AND I HEAR WE'RE GOING TO MEASURE EFFECTIVENESS, HOW DO WE GO ABOUT GETTING HOW ARE WE GOING TO MEASURE THAT AND GET FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS WHO ARE USING THESE PROGRAMS IN TERMS OF

WHAT THEY THINK? >> I THINK PART OF THAT AND WITH A SMALL TEAM WE WERE LOOKING AT THE PIANO AND SCRATCHING HER HEAD STRANDED FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH IT.

AND I HAPPEN TO BE ON CAMPUS SO I MET THE TEAM AND WORKED WITH THEM ON IT. IN THE CLASS WAS REALLY QUIET AND EVERYTHING THE TEACHER HAD STARTED THEM ON THE IXL LESSON AND THE LITTLE SECOND-GRADER WAS REALLY QUIET AND THE % SECOND-GRADER YELLS AND WE ALL TURNED AROUND AND HE SAYS I GOT IT, I FINALLY GOT IT SO CERTAINLY SOME OF THAT IS GOING TO BE ANTIDOTAL. SOME OF THAT WILL COME THROUGH TEACHERS AND THE FEEDBACK I GET FROM HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS TO IMPLEMENT SOMETHING LIKE IXL, THE STUDENTS LOVE THE LEADER BOARDS IN THE GAME ASPECTS OF IT ENCOURAGES THEM TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND HOMEWORK COMPLETION IF IT IS ALIGNED IN MEANINGFUL THAT INCREASES STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ON ASSESSMENTS AND OF COURSE OVERALL. THOSE ARE VERY IMPORTANT THINGS.

THOSE WILL BE SOME OF THE WAYS THAT WE CAN CERTAINLY LOOK AT OTHER WAYS TO GATHER LARGER SWATHS OF DATA AS WELL.

FROM STUDENTS. >> I DO APPRECIATE THE QUALITY AND THE ANTIDOTAL, THIS IS ONE WHERE I'M NOT SURE GATHERING ALL THE DATA THE USAGE DATA CERTAINLY BUT I THINK HEARING FROM THE TEACHERS IN HEARING THOSE STORIES ARE PRETTY IMPACTFUL. ONE OTHER QUESTION, ARE WE SEEING SOME OF THIS DATA FILTERING UP AT SCHOOL SITES AND ACTUALLY USING THEM AS PART OF THE METRICS?

[01:50:05]

>> FOR MANY OF THE SYSTEMS, YES. THE SYSTEMS THAT ARE MOST WIDELY THAT YOU SEE OUR BENCHMARK SCHOOLS FOR MASTERY CONNECT.

AND ALSO SCORES FOR ME SGI, IXL, ALEXIA ARE MENTIONED AND A LOT AS BEING A TOOL THAT THEY'RE USING FOR TIER ONE OR TIER TWO INTERVENTION OR AS PART OF FIRST INSTRUCTION AND WE HAVE A GROWING NUMBER OF SCHOOLS, PARTICULARLY AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL HE WAS BEEN WORKING WITH DOCTOR SELLERS AND MS. HUTCHINSON AT HER YOU'D YELL ELEMENTARY ON SNAPSHOT WINDOWS ON EXCEL. ON THOSE DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS AND IT TAKES A SNAPSHOT OF WHERE THE STUDENT WAS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT AT SAY THIS WEEK FOR EXAMPLE.

AND THEN IT WILL COMPARE THE GROWTH TO JANUARY OR FEBRUARY OF THE NEXT SNAPSHOT WINDOW. THEN THOSE REPORTS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO COMPARE THE GROWTH IN A SHOW STUDENT USAGE SO IT WILL COMPARE HOW MUCH STUDENTS HAVE GROWN VERSUS HOW MUCH

THEY'VE USE THE PLATFORM. >> THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY

MUCH. >> DOCTOR SUTER DO ANY OF THESE PLATFORMS UPLOAD STUDENT DATA ASSESSMENT INTO RESULTS SO TEACHERS CAN SEE WHERE STUDENTS FELL ON THE ASSESSMENTS WHICH IS A COMPUTER BASED ASSESSMENT AT THIS POINT IN TIME AND SEE IF THEY SEE GROWTH TOWARDS MEETING STANDARD AT THE FOLLOWING YEAR ASSESSMENT OR THE CURRENT YEAR STATE ASSESSMENT.

>> IN THESE IT DOES NOT. THE PLATFORM THAT WE ARE ACTUALLY USING HIS ESTATE PLATFORM FOR DATA.

A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THE STATE CAME OUT WITH A PRETTY PIECE OF PLATFORM FOR MONITORING EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE DESCRIBING WITH A CAST RESULT. WE UTILIZE ESTATE PLATFORM FOR

THAT PURPOSE. >> I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR COMING AS WELL. I PERSONALLY DON'T HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE USING THESE PLATFORMS BUT HAVE YOUNGER SIBLINGS WHO LOVE DOING IXL AND THINGS LIKE THAT AT HOME.

I DID WANT TO ASK I KNOW YOU TALK ABOUT THE COMMUNICATION AND HOW SOME OF THESE LEADER BOARDS, I WANTED TO ASK HAVE YOU HEARD OF ANY TOXIC CULTURE IN THE COMPETITIVENESS I KNOW ESPECIALLY OUT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THINGS CAN GET KIND OF TOXIC AND COMPARING STUDENTS TO EACH OTHER IN SCHOOLS AND CLASSROOMS IN INDIVIDUAL FRIENDS I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS EVER COME UP BUT I JUST WANT TO ASK.

>> PART OF THE REASON THAT IT HASN'T AS PART OF HER TRAINING OF ALL OF HER TEACHERS WITH A PLATFORM THAT HAS LEADER BOARDS WE TEACH YOU HOW TO TURN THEM ON ENTERING THEM OFF AND WE TEACH AND HOW TO MODERATE THEM. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO WITH AN EYE EXCEL IS MODERATE SO IS BASED ON TIME SPENT OR BASED ON GROWTH AS OPPOSED TO BEING BASED ON STREET PERFORMANCE. THAT WAY THE TEACHER CAN REALLY CHOOSE WHAT THEY THINK IS GOING TO BE THE MOST BENEFICIAL TO

THEIR STUDENTS AT THE TIME. >> THAT IS PERFECT, THANK YOU SO

MUCH. >> THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION AND YOU GAVE A PRESENTATION THAT WAS SO GREAT TO BOARD MEETINGS AGO SO IT'S GREAT TO SEE YOU HERE AGAIN WERE HAPPY TO SEE YOU BUT WE KNOW IT'S A LOT OF WORK, THANK YOU.

AND I THINK THIS IS INFORMATION THAT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO HEAR AND KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING ABOUT UNDERSTANDING HOW STUDENTS ARE ASSESSED AND HOW ARE WE MONITORING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT, WHAT ARE WE USING THE CLASSROOM TO IMPACT INSTRUCTION TO THE TIER ONE INSTRUCTION AND YOU MENTIONED A COUPLE OF THE KEY THINGS IS THE ABILITY FOR TEACHERS TO KNOW IN REAL TIME HOW ALL OF THEIR STUDENTS ARE DOING AND HOPEFULLY IS MAKING LIFE EASIER FOR TEACHERS. WOULD YOU SAY FOR THE MOST PART?

IT IS? >> I THINK THE ANYTHING THAT SAVES THEM TIME, LIKE I MENTIONED WITH THE SGI, TEACHERS WERE DOING FOR VERSIONS OF A HANDWRITTEN REPORT TIMES 24 STUDENTS, NOW ALL THAT THEY DO THEY ASSESS THE STUDENT IN THE SOFTWARE AS ARE GIVEN THE ONE-ON-ONE ASSESSMENT AND THEN THE REPORTS ARE THERE. TEACHERS, I REMEMBER WORKING WITH COMMITTEES AND THEM STRUGGLING WITH THE AMOUNT OF

[01:55:04]

TIME THAT THEY ARE SPENDING AND WHEN THEY SWITCHED OVER TO ESG I SUDDENLY HAD A LOT OF EXTRA TIME MORE TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT, MORE TIME TO PLAN INTERVENTIONS AND LESS TIME COPIED ON NUMBERS.

SO I THINK SOMETHING LIKE THAT WHERE A LOT OF THESE THAT I MENTION STARTED BECAUSE TEACHERS ASK FOR THEM WE HAD TO TEACHERS WHO CHAMPION TO BEGIN WITH AND THE FACT THAT IT GREW, ESG I WE HAVE NOT MANDATED ANY THAT WON'T USE IT.

BUT THE USAGE INCREASES FROM YEAR TO YEAR YEAR THE NUMBER OF TEACHER LICENSES THAT WE PURCHASED YEAR-OVER-YEAR.

IF PEOPLE ARE REPORTING IT'S MAKING THEIR LIVES EASIER.

>> RIGHT, THE OTHER POINT THAT YOU MENTIONED FOR OUR STUDENTS THE MOTIVATIONAL FACTOR FOR THEM AND ALSO WERE ALWAYS ASKING THE QUESTION HOW DO WE GET STUDENTS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP IN THEIR LEARNING AND BE REALLY CLEAR WHETHER AT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF THE PLATFORMS ARE HELPING THEM AT THAT.

THERE IS WORK TO BE DONE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO ASSESS THE IMPACT I GUESS AT THIS POINT OF THESE PROGRAMS AND SOME OF THEM ARE NEW TO OUR DISTRICT SO I GUESS THAT IS SOMETHING TDB WILL FIGURE OUT HIS SOUNDER IN THAT WE ARE TRYING TO FIGURE SOME OF

THAT OUT? >> THERE IS NO FORMULA TO MAKE THE HARD DECISIONS AND I THINK ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT A LITTLE BIT BEFORE I THINK ANOTHER PIECE OF DATA THAT WE NEED TO CONSIDER IS OUTSIDE, NOT ALL OF THEM BUT OUTSIDE OF IXL, WE NEED TO BE LOOKING AT THE DATA THAT WE ARE GETTING THROUGH EXISTING ASSESSMENTS AS WELL AS STATE ASSESSMENTS TO DETERMINE WHERE IS THE GREATEST OR THE GREATEST NEEDS WHETHER THAT BE PARTICULAR CONTENT AREA AND GRADE LEVEL STUDENT GROUPS AND MAKING SURE THAT WERE TARGETING THE SPECIFIC PIECES IN THE SPECIFIC AREAS BASED OFF THE OTHER ADDITIONAL

DATA. >> NOT JUST LEAVING IT AT THE CLASSROOM LEVEL BUT UTILIZING AN OUT OF DISTRICT LEVEL.

>> YES. >> YOU ASK THEM A QUESTION.

I WANT TO CONFIRM USE OF THE MASTER CONNECT PLATFORM WERE USING ALL OF HER BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS AND NOW GOING TO DO?

IS THAT RIGHT? >> THE BENCHMARK ARE THREE THROUGH EIGHT CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH A PERIOD AND THAT IS BECAUSE IT LENDS ITSELF BEST TO GRADE THREE AND ABOVE AND WE HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTING IF WE DIDN'T ALREADY HAVE BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS WE HAVE THEM IMPLEMENTING THEM OVER THE LAST

COUPLE OF YEARS. >> ONE OTHER THING THAT YOU SAID THAT REALLY STRUCK ME FROM THE PARENT PERSPECTIVE, I WAS THINKING ABOUT I HAD KIDS THAT HIT A POINT WHERE THEY BECAME UNMOTIVATED READERS WHICH IS HEARTBREAKING TO BE BECAUSE I AM A READER SO JUST THE THOUGHT OF HAVING 4000 BOOKS IN THE GUIDANCE OF HERE'S A BOOK THAT WOULD FIT YOUR CHILD PERFECTLY KIND OF THING YOU WERE LIKE OH MY GOSH IT COULD HAVE USED THAT 10 YEARS AGO. ANYWAY THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR

WORK. >> THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR SHARING ALL OF THE INFORMATION AS WELL AS YOUR OBVIOUS LOVE AND MASTERY OF ALL OF THESE THINGS WITH US BECAUSE THAT MAKES IT ENTERTAINING FOR US AS WELL. A QUESTION ABOUT THE SNAPSHOTS.

ARE THEY PRESET AND YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS DAY IN THE STATE BECAUSE THEY PRESET THEM BECAUSE ONE OF MY CHILDREN IS VERY INCONSISTENT EVEN WITH THE SAME TEST YOU CAN GIVE THEM A TEST ONE DAY AND THEY MASTER THE SAME TEST, MAYBE NOT SO MUCH.

IS THERE A WAY TO SEE IF THESE ARE ACCURATE SNAPSHOTS, DO YOU

KNOW WHAT I'M ASKING. >> I THINK SO.

WHEN WE LOOK AT THE SNAPSHOT WINDOW FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT WHEN YOU TAKE A DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT YOU CAN UPDATED ANY TIME. SO A STUDENT COULD GO WHEN IN THE FIRST TIME THEY TAKE AT MOST GRADE LEVELS IS 35 TWOMAC 40

[02:00:01]

MINUTES PER SUBJECT. IF THEY UPDATE THEIR DIAGNOSTIC AMOUNT LATER THEN IT WILL BE A WHOLE LOT SHORTER, MAYBE 10 MINUTES BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS NOT NECESSARILY GOING TO TEST THEM ON EVERYTHING UNLESS THERE GETTING A LOT OF QUESTIONS WRONG THAT THEY WEREN'T GETTING INCORRECT BEFORE.

THEN YOU CAN DO AND IF YOU DON'T PERFORM WELL YOU COULD DO IT THE NEXT DAY AND IT WILL LET YOU UPDATED.

BUT THE SNAPSHOT WINDOW DOES BECAUSE THE DIAGNOSTICS ARE MEANT TO BE FREE-FLOWING THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR THE SNAPSHOT WINDOWS TAKES A PICTURE OF THAT TIMEFRAME SO THE TWO WEEKS OR THREE WEEKS OR WHATEVER THE WINDOW WAS OF HOW THE STUDENT WAS PERFORMING ON THE DIAGNOSTIC DURING THE WINDOW FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES. FOR EXAMPLE IF THE STUDENT DOES NOT DO WELL, AS THE TEACHER HOPEFULLY I WOULD KNOW THAT THE STUDENT IS INCONSISTENT AND I MIGHT LOOK AT THE DATA AND SAY THAT LIKE THE LITTLE ODD 18 TAKE 10 OR 15 MINUTES AND GO UPDATE THAT FOR ME AGAIN. OR A WEEK LATER THEY WENT YOU GO UPDATE THAT AGAIN. IN THE SYSTEM WILL LET THEM DO

THAT. >> THINKING.

I WOULD AGREE THE TEACHER WAS DEFINITELY ON TOP OF THE AND OUR INSTANCE BUT BACK IN READING COUNTS AND IS NOT QUITE THE

SAME. >> DOCTOR SUTER CAN YOU TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT LEARNING STRATEGIES VERSUS ASSESSMENT.

WHEN I THINK ABOUT FORMATIVE I'M THINKING ABOUT LEARNING STRATEGIES IN THE OPENING SLIDES TALKED ABOUT STRATEGIES LIKE EXIT TICKETS AND THINK PAIR SHARE AND YOU TALKED ABOUT METACOGNITIVE SKILL BUILDING FOR STUDENTS WITH AND SOMETIMES WHEN WERE IN THE CONVERSATION WE CREEP INTO STATE-LEVEL ASSESSMENTS AND ACHIEVEMENT, CAN YOU TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT T

THAT. >> ASSESSMENT PRACTICES ARE CONTINUUM. ON YOUR FORMATIVE SIDE YOU EXIT TICKETS AND HOPEFULLY WHEN YOU GIVE KIDS AN EXIT TICKET YOU HAVE THEM FILL IT OUT AND BEFORE THEY TURNED IT IN THEY KNOW HOW THEY DID ON IT SO WHEN THEY WALK OUT YOUR DOOR NEVER FEELING OVER THERE AT SO YOU START CREEPING UP AND THEN YOU MAY GIVE A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT AND IXL AND SINUS SKILL PRACTICE, HERE IS A SKILL THAT WE LEARNED ABOUT IN THE CLASS I WANT YOU TO COMPLETE THIS SKILL AND IXL AND IGNORE ALL THE OTHER SUGGESTIONS, THIS IS JUST YOUR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT AND LOU OF NUMBERS ONE THROUGH 35 OUT OF YOUR MATH TEXTBOOK. IN THE NICE THING ABOUT ASSIGNING A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT AND A SKILL LIKE THAT IN ADAPTIVE PLATFORM MEANS AS STUDENTS ANSWER QUESTIONS AND GETTING FEEDBACK FROM THE PLATFORM AND IF THEY GET IT WRONG THE PLATFORM MAY SUGGEST A SHORT VIDEO TO WATCH ON HOW TO PERFORM BETTER. IT WILL SHOW HINTS OF THE STUDENT CAN FIND OUT WHERE THEY WENT WRONG IN THE PROCESS.

SO WHEN THEY START THE NEXT QUESTION ON THE SAME SCALE THEN HOPEFULLY THEY WILL DO BETTER. SO THEN YOU HAVE THAT LEVEL IN THE NEW MOVE-IN TO MORE UNIT ASSESSMENT OR IN CLASS QUIZZES THOSE ARE WHAT TEACHERS ARE USING MASTER CONNECT FOUR SO THOSE STUDENTS WHEN YOU TAKE THEM ON A DIGITAL PLATFORM THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE STUDENTS KNOW HOW THEY DID BEFORE THEY LEAVE THE CLASSROOM BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS MACHINE SCORED ANYTHING THAT IS NOT THEY CANNOT BE MACHINE SCORED YET THEN THE STUDENT WAITS ON THAT MAYBE THERE IS 11 QUESTIONS IN THE LAST ONE IS WRITE A PARAGRAPH IN THE STUDENT RECEIVES FEEDBACK ON THE FIRST 10 THEN YOU GO INTO BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS AND THAT'S WHERE WE USE THE SGI PLATFORM AND THAT'S WHERE WE REUSE MASTER CONNECT WITH HER BENCHMARK ASSESSMENTS SO THOSE ARE A LITTLE BIT LONGER AND IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE SGI THE MAJORITY OF HER TEACHERS WILL GIVE THE ASSESSMENT FOUR TIMES A YEAR NOT THREE IN THE U.S. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE

[02:05:03]

YEAR SO THEY KNOW WHERE THE KIDS ARE OUT WHEN THEY COME IN THE DOOR. SO PARENTS ARE INFORMED OF WHERE STUDENTS ARE AT WHEN THEY COME IN THE DOOR EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE A SUMMIT OF ASSESSMENT USED ON THE REPORT CARD USING IT FORMATIVELY TO HELP WITH INSTRUCTION INTO SUPPORT KIDS LEARNING. THE GRADES THREE THROUGH EIGHT AIR BEING USED AT A SIMILAR FASHION.

IN FACT THIS YEAR OR MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH DEPARTMENT CAME TO CONSENSUS AND WANTED TO USE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF BENCHMARK THE FIRST THREE QUARTERS OF THE YEAR, QUARTER ONE, SEMESTER ONE AND QUARTER THREE. THE BENCHMARK WAS MEANT TO SHOW PROGRESS TOWARDS END-OF-THE-YEAR STANDARDS.

THERE ARE ASSESSMENTS OF 25 QUESTIONS AND IDEALLY AT THE END OF QUARTER ONE STUDENTS WOULD BE ABLE TO DO A FOURTH OF THEM IN STUDENTS ARE PREPPED AHEAD OF TIME.

THESE ARE ONES THAT YOU LEARNED AND YOU SHOULD'VE LEARNED IN THE ONES FOLLOWING ARE HELPING GUIDE HOW WE WORK OVER THE NEXT QUARTER. IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE NEVER DONE IN THIS DISTRICT AND WERE GIVING IT A TRY AND WERE ALL WORKING TOGETHER TO ANALYZE THE DATA IN THE REPORTS SO WE CAN

MAKE THE MOST OF IT. >> THANK YOU, VERY HELPFUL.

>> I THINK THERE'S PIECES TO THIS FROM A TEACHER LESSON PLANNING PERSPECTIVE IN LOOKING AT THE STUDENTS NEEDS AS YOU LOOK AT RESULTS FROM SOME OF THE HOMEWORK THAT MAY COME IN AND THE ABILITY TO SEE A STUDENT THAT MAY BE STRUGGLING INTO RETEACHING CLASS ON A CONCEPT AND THEN REASSIGN HOMEWORK OFFICE ONE OF THE PLATFORMS YOU MAY HAVE STUDENTS THAT NEED TO BE FRONTLOADED MATERIAL GOING INTO A LESSON THAT THE TEACHER WILL TEACH ONE DAY AND THAT TEACHER IS ABLE TO FRONTLOAD SOME HOMEWORK THAT THE STUDENT MAY HAVE A VIDEO WITH IN THE APPLICATION ALONG WITH THE PROGRAM.

ULTIMATELY I THINK WE WANT TO SEE TEACHERS USING THE INFORMATION TO IDENTIFY STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF STUDENTS AND HOW THEY'RE GOING TO TEACH THE WHOLE CLASS OR BREAK IT INTO CENTER ACTIVITIES AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL INTO SMALL GROUPS THAT'S ULTIMATELY THE GOAL OF WHY WE HAVE THE PLATFORMS IN THE DATA THAT IS PATEL SO QUICKLY AND IS LESSON PLANNING BACK TO THE FIRST THING WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FIRST INSTRUCTION AND FOR NOT USING THE TOOLS TO GUIDE SOME OF THE FIRST INSTRUCTION WARFRONT LOADING OR RETEACH AS PER INSTRUCTION SERVICES NEEDS TO WORK WITH THE TEACHERS TO MAKE A DECISION ON IS THIS PROGRAM WORTH THE DOLLARS WERE SPENDING ON IT, THERE'S SOME PIECES TO THIS WHERE WE HAVE TO SEE IF TEACHERS OR USING ACCURATE DATA AND THINGS LIKE THAT THAT WE NEED TO COLLECT FROM OUR TEACHERS BEFORE MAKING ANY FINAL DECISIONS BECAUSE THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ALL OF US IS IDENTIFYING STUDENTS NEEDS, STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES AHEAD OF TIME AND BUILDING YOUR

LESSONS AROUND THE. >> YOU MENTIONED VIDEO AND THAT KINDA TRIGGERED SOMETHING, WE INVESTED A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT IN UBL ON THE LEARNING CAN THESE TOOLS BE ADOPTED BECAUSE SOME KIDS MIGHT LEARN BY WATCHING THE VIDEO AND OTHERS MIGHT LEARN BY READING CAN THEY BE ADOPTED TO MESH WELL WITH

UBL? >> THESE PLATFORMS OFFER MODALITIES. BY READING, YES, WITH EXPLANATIONS OF EACH STEP OF ANSWERING A QUESTION AND THEN THERE IS ALSO A VIDEO LINK AND THEN THERE IS PICTURE DIAGRAMS IF IT'S APPLICABLE SO STUDENTS CAN CHOOSE WAS GOING TO WORK

BEST FOR THEM. >> IF YOU'RE DOING WALK-THROUGHS YOU CAN SEE THE TEXT ESPECIALLY AS I SEE IT AS A YOUNGER WORDS HIGHLIGHTED IN YOUR CURSOR OVER THE WORD AND IT MAY SHOW A PICTURE IN A DEFINITION, SOMETHING THAT THE STUDENT CAN CONNECT TO TO HELP THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE READING AND CONTINUE ON WITH THE STORY OR WHATEVER THE READING, THERE DEFINITELY IS EMBEDDED TOOLS AS WELL TO HELP STUDENTS.

>> GREAT, THANK YOU. >> ANYONE ELSE.

>> ONE MORE QUESTION DOESN'T TAKE A LOT OF SUPPORT ON YOUR END TO HELP THE TEACHERS REALLY USE THE PLATFORMS MOST

EFFECTIVELY? >> I DON'T DO IT BY MYSELF, LET'S BE VERY CLEAR ABOUT THAT. WE HAVE A LOT OF HARD-WORKING

[02:10:05]

TEACHERS IN THE DISTRICT AND VERY HARD-WORKING TEACHERS ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT AS WELL AND DEPENDING ON THE PLATFORM ARE TECH REALLY SUPPORTS ALL OF THEM AND WE HAVE OTHERS THAT SUPPORT SPECIFIC ONE THAT ALIGN WITH THEIR CORE JOB FUNCTIONS AS WELL SO TEACHERS ALWAYS HAVE MULTIPLE PEOPLE THEY CAN COME TO IT IF THEY CAN THINK OF WHO TO COME TO THEY CAN ALWAYS GO TO THE GRADE SPAN DIRECTOR THEY CAN COME TO ME AND IF NOTHING ELSE EVEN IF IT'S A BRAND-NEW PLATFORM THAT I'VE NOT DUG INTO MYSELF BUT MITOSIS HAVE BEEN TRAINED ON I AT THE MINIMUM CAN HAVE SOME FOLLOW UP WITH THEM. BY THIS POINT IN THE YEAR AND HAPPY TO SAY CAUGHT UP ON ALL OF THEM.

>> DOCTOR SUTER LOVES TO GET TEXT MESSAGES FROM ME IN THE EVENINGS AND AT NIGHT BECAUSE WE HAVE A DISTRICT FACEBOOK PAGE WERE TEACHERS CAN SPECIFICALLY ASK TECH QUESTIONS AND I DO MONITOR IT IF I SEE SOMETHING SITTING AROUND I MAY NUDGE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. I KNOW SHE DOESN'T ALWAYS LIKE THOSE BUT ARE TECH TOAS DO A GREAT JOB RESPONDING BACK TO ANY

QUESTION THAT,. >> THE BOTTOM LINE I ACTUALLY DON'T MIND AND THE REASON IS BECAUSE WE HAVE HARD-WORKING TEACHERS WERE TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR KIDS AND THEY'RE DOING ON THEIR OWN TIME. BUT GIVE THEM THE SUPPORT SO THEY KNOW HOW TO BE FRUSTRATED. THE LAST THING I WANT IS SOMETHING THAT COULD BENEFIT THEIR KIDS NOT BEING IMPLEMENTED IN THE CLASSROOM BECAUSE THEY ARE FRUSTRATED AND GAVE UP.

>> ANYONE ELSE? >> THANK YOU SO MUCH WONDERFUL

PRESENTATIONS, WE APPRECIATE IT. >> OKAY WE ARE AT 5V BOARD OF

[B. Board of Education - CSBA Delegate Assembly Nominations]

EDUCATION, DELEGATE ASSEMBLY NOMINATIONS.

DOCTOR MACLACHLAN YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY.

>> NO WERE OUT IN FRONT OF THIS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE ONE COME JANUARY WHERE WE MISS DEADLINES AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO OTHER THAN THAT SHERRY IS MONITORING THIS AND MAKING SURE THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS THAT WE HAVE IT ON THE AGENDA IN THE NOMINATIONS CAN COME FORWARD BECAUSE THEY NEED TO GO FORWARD IN THE NOMINATION PACKET FROM MY UNDERSTANDING GOES THROUGH IN DECEMBER SO IS THERE BY THE GENERALLY SEVENTH DATE TO CSPI.

>> CORRECT. >> ANY QUESTIONS OR DISCUSSION.

>> 271 GIVE A SUMMARY OF WHAT IT IS.

>> A DELEGATE ASSEMBLY IS A GOVERNING BODY FOR CSPI ITSELF IN EACH REGION HAS A CERTAIN NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES SO I'M CURRENTLY SERVING AS A DELEGATE ASSEMBLY BUT WE WILL NEED TO RUN IN 2024 SHOW MY NOMINATION MATERIALS WILL COME FORWARD IN

THE DECEMBER MEETING. >> YOU ALSO RECEIVE NOMINATIONS FROM OTHER BOARD MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY WHO SIGNED UP AND WILL BE VOTING FOR THREE AND A REGION WHATEVER THE NUMBER

IS FOR THAT PARTICULAR YEAR. >> 'S CORPORATE TRUSTEE WHO IS INTERESTED IN BEING INVOLVED IN THIS ORDER THEY HAVE TO DO TO DO

IT. >> THE LINK IS ON THE AGENDA AND IT TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT THE PROCESSES AND WHAT IS REQUIRED IS A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH ENTERS A SET OF QUESTIONS.

>> ANYONE ELSE? THEN WE ARE GOING TO GO TO 5C

[C. Business Services - Approval of Amendments to Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 1330 - Use of School Facilities]

APPROVAL OF AMENDMENTS TO BOARD POLICY 1 1330 USE OF SCHOOL

FACILITIES, DOCTOR HAYEK. >> I TAKE NO OFFENSE TO EVERYBODY LEFT WHEN THE BUSINESS SERVICES CAME.

>> THE POLICY AND UPDATE REGARDING FACILITY USE THAT WE'VE GONE TO THE POLICY A NUMBER OF TIMES PROBABLY EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST FIVE OR SIX YEARS.

THE MOST RECENT UPDATE HAVE TO DO WITH CHARGING ORGANIZATIONS

[02:15:03]

ON SCHOOL CAMPUSES AND ALSO IN THE AMENDMENT AS THE POLLING PLACES MORE THAN ONE DAY FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME SO IT ALLOWS FOR THE POLLING PLACES IN THE EXTENDED TIME AND ADDITIONAL TIME TO BRING MACHINES AND DELIVER AND SET UP AND SUCH.

>> THANK YOU. OTHER QUESTIONS OR ANY

DISCUSSION ON THIS ITEM. >> HAVE A QUESTION.

>> AS YOU JUST SAID ELECTIONS ARE NOT JUST NOVEMBER 3 OR WHATEVER IT IS NEXT YEAR IT IS A BUNCH OF DAYS HOW DOES THIS IMPACT IF IT'S IN THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM, HOW DOES IMPACT THE SCHOOL BEING MORE DAYS.

>> WE WORK WELL WITH THE COUNTY SO WHEN THEY REQUEST THE USE OF THE SITE WE WILL MEET WITH THEM ON SITE TYPICALLY OR WILL SPEAK WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND SAY IT'S BEEN ONE OR TWO DAYS IN THE PAST BUT IF IT'S GOING TO BE LONGER THAN WHAT WE WOULD DO WE IDENTIFY SPACES LIKE IN MPR WITH AN OUTSIDE EXIT AND IT WOULD IMPACT THE SCHOOL AND THEY'D BE ABLE TO USE MPR FOR THAT DAY BUT THEY WOULD HAVE ADVANCE NOTICE AND PLAN ACCORDINGLY BUT OUR GOAL IS TO MINIMIZE THE TRAFFIC OR INTRUSION IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAMPUS SO THERE WOULD BE EXTERIOR DOORS THAT COMES IN FROM THE PARKING LOT WHERE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE

OFFICES. >> ANYONE ELSE?

I DO NOT SEE ANYONE. >> IN THAT INSTANCE DO THEY LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE MPR THAT GO ON TO THE CAMPUS?

>> IF THE ENTRANCES FROM THE PARKING LOT, I AM ASSUMING THE ANSWER IS YES BUT I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT ONCE PEOPLE ARE IN THERE THEY DON'T HAVE ACCESS FROM A REAR DOOR OUT.

>> THEY COULD BECAUSE THE DOORS DON'T LOCK FROM THE INSIDE FOR EGRESS PURPOSES AND EMERGENCY YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO EXIT OUT.

>> SO THEN WE WOULD HAVE 70 MONITORING TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE.

>> TYPICALLY WHEN WE WORK IT OUT WHETHER IT IS A PRINCIPAL OR WHOEVER IT IS ON THE CAMPUS WE TRIED TO ASK THE COUNTY FOR ADDITIONAL SECURITY, THEY DON'T ALWAYS GIVE IT TO US SO IT'S LEFT UP TO US TO POLICE THEM AND WE MAKE SURE WE LET THE TEACHING STAFF KNOW THAT THERE VOTING ON CAMPUS AND IF YOU SEE ANYONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE A VISITOR BADGE OR DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THEY BELONG THEY SHOULD REPORT IT RIGHT AWAY BUT WE'VE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES RECENTLY WE PUT THEM TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE MPR ALSO SO THERE MAY BE DOORS IN THE BACK BUT I THINK THE ELECTION STAFF ARE PRETTY GOOD ABOUT GETTING PEOPLE IN AND OUT AND

MAKING SURE NOBODY WONDERS. >> THAT IS PART OF THE TRAINING.

>> THERE IS CONCERN ON CAMPUS WE MAY RUN TABLES IN FRONT OF THE DOORS, THOSE TYPE OF THINGS SO THEY WOULD HAVE TO MOVE

SOMETHING TO GET OUT. >> IN PREVIOUS YEARS I VOTED AT WESTLAKE WHICH HAS APPEARED NEAR THE TOP IN PART CANNOT THEIR EASTER AND LOOKING PARENTS THAT MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT YOU COULD EXIT BACK TO THE PARKING LOT.

>> ANYONE ELSE. >> OKAY.

[D. Business Services - Approval of Amendments to Administrative Regulation 3311 - Bids]

THANK YOU. 5G BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF AMENDED TO REGULATION 3311, DOCTOR HY ACCU WERE UP.

>> THERE ARE A NUMBER OF CHANGES OF ALTERNATIVE BIDDING PROCESSES AND THINGS LIKE ALTERNATIVE DIVORCE UNDER DESIGN BUILD PROJECTS SO THERE IS A SET THRESHOLD THAT GO UP TO 2025 I BELIEVE AND IT GOES UP TO $5 BILLION TO 2029 SO THE POLICY UPDATES REFLECTS THE TRUE UNDERCURRENT CHANGES AND GIVES US THE FLEXIBILITY TO DO THIS. WE HAVE NOT DONE THIS IS A POLICY UPDATE WE ARE REFLECTING THE POLICY BUT IT'S NOT SOMETHING WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST OR SOMETHING WERE LOOKING TO DO

CURRENTLY. >> QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS OR

DISCUSSION ON THIS ONE. >> JUST BECAUSE IT IS NEW LANGUAGE CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THOSE ARE LEASE LEASEBACK, DESIGN BUILD AN ALTERNATIVE DESIGN BUILD.

>> ESSENTIALLY WHAT IT MEANS WE CAN CONTRACT TYPICALLY THE WAY IT WORKS WE WOULD HIRE AN ARCHITECT AND DO THE DESIGN PIECES AND THEN WE WOULD COME UP WITH THE SPECS AND PUT IT UP TO

[02:20:02]

BED AND THE CONTRACTOR DOES THE WORK THAT WE BID ON IN THE ALTERNATIVE METHODS WHAT IT WOULD BE IS ONE COMPANY WE WOULD MEET WITH THEM AND SAY WE ARE LOOKING FOR ACTS, Y AND Z AND WE WOULD WORK WITH THEM IN MULTIPLE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPANYING CONTRACTORS WOULD COME AND SAY HERE IS A DESIGN HERE'S WHAT WE THINK AND THEY WOULD PRESENT WHATEVER THEY THINK THAT WERE LOOKING FOR BASED ON THE CRITERIA THAT WE PROVIDED SO THE DESIGN WILL LOOK DIFFERENT IN THE MATERIALS MIGHT VERY SPACE MIGHT BE DIFFERENT THEY WOULD BE THE ONES THAT WOULD DESIGN AND BUILD THE WHOLE PROJECT THEMSELVES.

AGAIN WE HAVE NOT DONE THAT WE HAVE NOT DONE INTERVIEWS WITH A NUMBER OF CONTRACTORS BUT IT DID NOT WORK OUT FOR US, THE IDEA IT IS COST-SAVING SO IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND A MILLION DOLLARS ON A 10 MILLION-DOLLAR PROJECT FOR A DESIGN AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE CONTRACTOR CAN DO THAT IN HOUSE AND THEY WORK WITH US AND PROVIDES FLEXIBILITY TO MAKE CHANGES AND COME UP WITH A DESIGN THAT WORKS FOR US BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT PUTS EVERYTHING IN THE BASKET OF ONE ORGANIZATION AND IT WORKS FOR SOME PROJECTS BUT MAYBE NOT OTHERS WE WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HAVE THE DESIGN PIECE IN THE SEPARATION SO THAT'S WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS OPERATED THAT WAY BUT THESE ARE OPTIONS OUT THERE WE LOOKED AT THIS FOR WESTLAKE AND NEWBURY PARK AT THE SCIENCE BUILDINGS IN EITHER CASE UNDER NEITHER CASE DID IT WORK OUT AND

RESULT IN ANY COST SAVINGS. >> ANYONE ELSE?

[E. Business Services - Approval of Amendments to Administrative Regulation 3311.3 - Design-Build Contracts]

THEN WE WILL MOVE TO FIVE E-BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF AMENDMENTS TO MINISTRY TO REGULATION 3311.3 DESIGN BUILD

CONTRACTS, DOCTOR HAYEK AGAIN. >> SIMILAR UPDATES FOR THE SAME

[F. Business Services - Approval of Amendments to Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 3551 - Food Service Operations/Cafeteria Fund]

LAWS. >> QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THIS ONE. NO, 5F BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF AMENDMENTS TO ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION 3511 FOOD SERVICE OPERATION/CAFETERIA FUN.

>> THESE ARE GUIDANCE CHANGES RECOGNIZING THAT SCHOOLS ARE TAKING REIMBURSEMENTS FROM THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVEL FOR MEALS AND PUTS REGULATIONS AS FAR AS HOW MUCH YOU CAN KEEP ANY RESERVES AND ALSO ONE OF THE THINGS ABOUT PURCHASING AND WE NEED TO PRIORITIZE PURCHASING FROM INSIDE THE UNITED STATES RATHER THAN OUTSIDE UNLESS THE PRODUCT IS DEEMED INFERIOR AND OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES SO IT'S A BUNCH OF LANGUAGE CHANGES REGARDING FOOD SERVICE OPER OPERATION.

>> QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? >> YES PLEASE.

>> YOU MY RIGHT IN READING STARTING JANUARY 1 THOSE ARE TO RECOVER THE MAXIMUM FOOD, IS THIS COMING JANUARY 1.

>> TO TALK ABOUT SHARING TABLES AND BEING ABLE TO DONATE FOOD IS A SOMETHING THAT WERE DOING OR GEARED OR ABLE TO DO.

>> YES WE ARE AWARE AND WERE WORKING WITH THE TRASH COLLECTOR FOR THE DISTRICT AND WE INITIATED CONTRACT FOR THE TRASH REMOVAL THEY ARE WORKING WITH US ON BEING ABLE TO SEPARATE ORGANIC AND FOOD WASTE READ WE DO HAVE SHARING TABLES AND MANY OF OUR SCHOOLS AND WE STARTED CONVERSATIONS ON HOWARD PACKAGING FOOD AND HOW WE WOULD BE ABLE TO SEPARATE THEM OR PUT THEM IN A POSITION WHERE WE WOULD BE ABLE TO DONATE, WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES DONATING THEIR GROUPS THAT MAYBE WOULD TAKE LEFTOVER FOOD BUT THEY WANT US TO DELIVER AND WE DON'T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DELIVER. SO IT WOULD REQUIRE A PICKUP AND SOME ADDITIONAL LABOR TO BE ABLE TO PUT ALL THE STUFF TOGETHER AND HAVE IT PICKED UP, WE TYPICALLY DO NOT SEE A LOT OF LEFTOVER FOODS AT ANY OF OUR SCHOOLS, WE WILL SEE SOME STUFF GO WHEN THE TRASH BUT IN LARGE QUANTITIES WE DON'T FEEL THERE IS A SUFFICIENT AMOUNT THAT WOULD BE WORTHWHILE FOR ANYBODY THAT WE DELIVER WITH A PICKUP THAT WOULD HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL

AMOUNT OF FOOD LEFT OVER. >> THIS IS JUST A REQUIREMENT TO

DO THE BEST WE CAN ESSENTIALLY. >> YES.

>> LISTENING TO YOUR DISCUSSION JUST NOW, GOING BACK TO THE STUDENT THAT DISCUSSION EARLIER I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF DEDICATED STUDENTS THAT WOULD DO THAT.

IS THERE ANY WAY WE CAN USE THEM FOR GATHERING DELIVERY OR

SOMETHING. >> AGAIN THE VOLUME IS NOT THERE

[02:25:04]

YET. WE BECOME -- THE POSITIVE THING ABOUT KOVIC THAT CAME OUT THE WAY THEY WERE PACKAGING THE LUNCHES THE CARE SURVIVED INDIVIDUALLY, APPLE SLICES AND WHAT HAVE YOU IN THEIR ALL PORTION CONTROL.

SO IF A STUDENT OPENS IT UP ONCE IT'S OPEN WE CANNOT DONATE IT HAS TO BE CLOSED AND WE ARE PRETTY CONSISTENT NOW THE EVERYTHING BREAKFAST AND LUNCH IS FREE FOR STUDENTS SO OUR MEAL NUMBERS AND WE SEE ON THE REGULAR UPDATES THAT DOCTOR MCGLOCKLIN SENDS OUT THEY HAVE BEEN RISING AND PRETTY CONSISTENT SO THE MEALS THAT ARE TAKEN MOST IS BEING CONSUMED.

WHAT IS UNOPENED AND TOSSED OUT IS WHAT WERE TRYING TO SEPARATE IN THE ORGANIC SIDE BUT THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF FOOD THAT IS LEFT OVER THAT WE PREPARE THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORTHWHILE AT THIS POINT FOR SOMEONE TO COLLECT AND DELIVER.

IT JUST MAY BE DOESN'T MAKE ECONOMIC SENSE AT THIS POINT IN TIME WERE REALLY NOT WASTING A KIDS ARE PRETTY GOOD IN OUR CAFETERIA STAFF DOES A GREAT JOB AND THEY RECOGNIZE TRENDS AND THEY KNOW WHAT SELLS AND DOESN'T SELL AND THEY KNOW A PICNIC BASKET IS A HOT ITEM AND BREAKFAST FOR LUNCH WORKS, THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT MY KID LIKES AND DOESN'T LIKE.

WE'VE BEEN PRETTY IN-DEPTH AND IF YOU RECALL EARLIER TOWARD THE END OF LAST YEAR WE PURCHASED A NEW INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM THAT HELPS US WITH THE MENU PLANNING AND USE OF INGREDIENTS SO THAT'S HELPING US REDUCE WASTE AND TRYING TO ORDER AND PREPARE MEALS IN LINE WITH WHATEVER PROJECTIONS OF MEALS

BEING SERVED THERE. >> I DO SOME OF THE PICKUP FOR THE ORGANIZATION THAT DO FREE MARKETPLACES FOR OUR FAMILIES SO THAT SERVICES AVAILABLE. BUT MY STRONG IMPRESSION FROM EVERY TIME WE HAD A PRESENTATION ON THIS WERE REALLY GOOD ABOUT NOT HAVING WASTE LEFT OVER WHICH IS A REAL POSITIVE.

>> ALL GO BACK AND SAY GROUPS WILL COME AND TAKE IT BUT IT'S NOT WORTH IT BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH THAT MAKES IT WORTHWHILE WITH SEVEN BAGS OF SLICED CARROTS.

>> EXACTLY. >> HAVE TO PIGGYBACK.

WE ARE GETTING BETTER AT IT BECAUSE I REMEMBER A LOT OF CONVERSATIONS PARTICULARLY AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL WHERE THERE WAS A LOT OF EXTRA IN THE CONVERSATION OF HOW WE CAN DONATE AND HOW WE CAN GET THIS TO PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY NEED IT.

I AM GLAD TO HEAR THAT WERE DOING BETTER AND THAT.

[G. Business Services - Approval of Amendments to Board Policy 3312 - Contracts]

THANK YOU. >> AGREE.

GET A MOVE ON TO 5G BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT TO BOARD POLICY 3312 CONTRACTS, DOCTOR HAYEK.

>> AGAIN LEGAL VERBIAGE UPDATES ON THOSE POLICIES THERE IS IN ADDITION TO CONFLICT OF INTEREST FROM CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION FOR ANYONE RELATED TO PROBING CONTRACTS REMAKING SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATION ON HALF OF THE DISTRICT FOR CONTRACTS.

>> DOES ANYONE HAVE A QUESTION OR DISCUSSION.

[H. Business Services - Approval of Resolution #23/24-16: Authorizing the Issuance of CVUSD Election of 2014 General Obligation Bonds, Series E, and Actions Related Thereto (Final Bond Issuance for Measure I)]

>> NO. >> WE WILL MOVE TO 5H BUSINESS SERVICES APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION OF 23/2416 AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF CV USD ELECTION OF 2014 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS SERIES E AND ACTIONS RELATED THERETO FINAL BOND ISSUANCE OR

MAJOR I COME A DOCTOR HAYEK. >> THIS IS OUR FIRST STEP IN THE FIFTH AND FINAL ISSUANCE OF BONDS FOR MAJOR I IT IS A MUST BEEN 10 YEARS 2024 WILL BE 10 YEARS AND SOME MAJOR I PASSED AND I HAVE BEEN ON PREP CALLS WE WERE ON WON THIS MORNING TO GET EVERYTHING IN LINE IN THEIR PAPERWORK READY TO GUIDE THE MEETING WITH THE BOND RATING AGENCIES IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS TO REVIEW OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT FINANCIAL SITUATION AND FOR INFORMATION WE WILL HAVE THE RESOLUTION IN THE POS ON APPROVAL AT THE DECEMBER MEETING.

ONCE THAT IS APPROVED WE WILL BE READY TO GO IN ALL INDICATION THAT THE MARKET CONDITIONS ARE GOOD RIGHT NOW AND WE WILL LIKELY NOT ACT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF CONSENSUS THAT EVERYBODY IS CHECKING OUT REALLY BEFORE THE

[02:30:02]

HOLIDAY WE WOULD LOVE TO ISSUE SOMETIME IN EARLY JANUARY AND HAVE THE FUNDS VIOLATE JANUARY EARLY FEBRUARY AND CAN CONTINUE

TO CONCLUDE MEASURE I. >> PEOPLE CHECKING OUT ARE NOT SEEEMPLOYEES. IT'S OTHER BUSINESSES THAT WE ARE WORKING WITH THAT ARE CHECKING OUT.

>> A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS JUST TO CLARIFY WHAT I THINK I UNDERSTAND. THESE ARE TAX-EXEMPT.

I KNOW IN THE PAST THERE'S A DECISION BETWEEN TAXABLE AND

TAX-EXEMPT. >> THE DIFFERENCES TAX-EXEMPT IN THREE YEARS, TAXABLE BONDS DO NOT HAVE A LIMIT SO A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO IN 2021, THE LAST BOND ISSUE THAT WE ISSUED 20 MILLION AND TAXABLE BONDS AND THAT IS WHAT IS FUNDING OUR MEASURE I TECHNOLOGY TO 2034. AND WE TIMED IT REALLY GOOD BECAUSE THOSE INTEREST RATES WERE AT ALL-TIME LOWS AND THAT PUT US IN A GOOD POSITION SO WE CAN SELL NONTAXABLE'S WITH INTEREST RATES BEING HIGH IN THE NONTAXABLE BONDS ARE LITTLE BIT MORE ATTRACTIVE RIGHT NOW FOR INVESTORS.

EVEN WITH RATES HIGH WE SHOULD BE PRETTY COMPETITIVE IN THE MARKET. SOME OF THE BONDS WILL HAVE TO BE CAPITAL APPRECIATION BONDS I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO ASK THAT.

WHAT THAT MEANS TYPICALLY AN AGENCY WOULD SELL BONDS AND THEY PAY INTEREST ON A REGULAR BASIS AS AN ANNUAL BASIS, CAPITAL APPRECIATION BONDS YOU WOULD BIND AND HOLD TO MATURITY AND THEY WOULD PAY YOU AT THE END THE REASON THAT WE HAVE TO DO THAT AT THIS TIME IS TO MAINTAIN THE $32.70 THAT WE PROMISE TO TAXPAYERS SO WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE INTEREST PAYMENTS INNKEEPER 3270 EACH YEAR SO WE HAVE TO STAGGER TO ACCOMMODATION OF REGULAR BONDS AND CAPS IN ORDER TO MAKE IT THE 3270 FOR THE PAYOFF OF THE LAST ISSUANCE OF BONDS WE'VE BEEN PORTED TO DO BECAUSE A LOT OF THIS IS PEGGED ON HOME VALUES AND WE ALWAYS Y YES. A 4% INCREASE YEAR-OVER-YEAR OF ASSESSED VALUES AND IS BEEN CLOSER TO FIVE AND THERE'S BEEN YEARS THAT IS OVER FIVE THAT PUTS US IN A GOOD POSITION THEY WERE ABLE TO ISSUE THE REMAINDER OF 29.9 MILLION ALL AT ONE TIME.

>> I SHOULD'VE CALLED YOU, IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO FILL FIGURE OUT THE CAPITAL APPRECIATION BONDS AND THE REASON FOR THAT.

FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A SMALL RISK OF ASSESSED IF THERE'S A BIG EARTHQUAKE OR FIRE IN THE ASSESSED VALUE COULD GO DOWN THOUGHTS ONLY RISK OF POTENTIALLY NOT HOLDING THE

TAXES THE 3270. >> CORRECT, CORRECT BUT VENTURA COUNTY IN THOUSAND OAKS SPECIFICALLY HAS OVER 90 #TAX COLLECTION RATES SO WERE IN A PRETTY GOOD SITUATION AND PART OF THE PRESENTATION WE DEAL WITH THE BOND RATING TALKING ABOUT THE CITY AND THE COMMUNITY NOT JUST A SCHOOL DISTRICT.

ONE OF THE BIGGER RISKS BESIDES EARTHQUAKE IS A FIRE RISK THAT HAS BEEN OUT THERE AND AFFECTING EVERYONE'S INSURANCE RATES THAT IS SOMETHING THAT COMES UP IN WILL COME UP LIKELY IN THE CONVERSATIONS BUT I THINK THE COUNTY WE WORK WITH THE GPM ARE PRETTY FORTUNATE AND PRETTY PROACTIVE IN HOW WE HANDLE FIRE MITIGATION, ABATEMENT ESPECIALLY AROUND OUR CAMPUSES IN THE LAST MAJOR FIRE OTHER THAN SMOKE DAMAGES AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGES TO ANY OF OUR SCHOOLS AND OUT OF THE SCHOOLS IN VENTURA COUNTY.

>> THANK YOU I HAVE TO SAY AYE LEARNED A LOT OF THE BIG PAIRS OF PROPERTY TAX AT THIS COMMUNITY.

THERE'S A LOT OF INFORMATION WHEN YOU READ THROUGH THE WHOLE THING. ANYONE ELSE? OKAY WE ARE AT SECTION SIX BEFORE WE ADJOURN WOOD BOARD MEMBERS LIKE TO ADD ANY TOPICS FOR FUTURE BOARD DISCUSSION?

>> I WAS FORTUNATE TO GO TO MODERNA FOR THEIR PATRIOTIC ASSEMBLY AND ALSO WITH TRUSTEE POWELL WE GOT A TOUR OF NEW AND EXCITING THINGS HAPPENING AND I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE REPRESENTATION ON THEIR STEAM ACTIVITIES.

AND I'M SURE THE PRINCIPAL WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO SHARE.

>> THANK YOU. OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

[02:35:03]

>> YES. >> I HIT THE WRONG BUTTON.

I ATTENDED THE COUNSELOR HATCHING RESULT LAST WEEK OR TWO WEEKS AGO. I THINK IT WOULD BE VERY INFORMATIVE FOR US AS WELL AS THE PUBLIC TO HEAR WHAT OUR COUNSELORS THE FRESHMAN DEVELOPMENT FOR COUNSELORS.

>> I CAN GO BACK AND LOOK AT BOARD AGENDAS BUT I DO THINK THAT HAS BEEN SOMETHING THAT WE'VE HAD IN THE LAST FIVE OR SIX MONTH GOING BACK TO LAST YEAR.

I CAN CHECK IT OUT AND THEN WE CAN REACH OUT TO THE LEAD COUNSELORS AND SEE IF THEY THINK THERE IS AN UPDATE TO BE BROUGHT

FORWARD IF THE BOARD WISHES. >> A HAD A DISCUSSION ABOUT THIS A COUPLE OF MEETINGS AGO WE TALKED ABOUT MAYBE IN THE SCHOOL YEAR GETTING AN UPDATE OF SOMETHING OR EARLY NEXT SCHOOL

YEAR. >> I THINK THAT WAS ETHNIC STUDIES CONVERSATION. I DON'T REMEMBER THE DATE BUT I DO THINK WE HAD A PRESENTATION NOT LONG AGO.

>> I THINK IT WAS HIM LAST YEAR. >> AND WE GO BACK AND CHECK ON

THAT FOR YOU. >> YES.

>> ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS, OKAY WHILE WE RUN OUT OF THINGS TO TALK ABOUT.
