IN ADDITION MY FRIEND SUZANNE WILL BE ON HAND WITH COPIES OF HER PUBLISHED BOOK WHICH CHRONICLES HER OWN JOURNEY WITH HER SON ELWYN WHO HAS DOWN SYNDROME. A WIN IS A MEMBER OF THE WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM AND CELEBRATED THE SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WHICH IS WHERE I MET SUZANNE SHE IS VERY INSPIRATIONAL TALK HERSELF. THE STRUCTURE OF THE PRESENTATION TONIGHT IS GOING TO HEAVILY FOCUS ON THE DATA OF OUR WELLNESS CENTERS. THIS DATA HAS STAYED CONSISTENT OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. THESE ARE OUR GROUP TOPICS AND MOST ARE ON SOCIAL SKILLS AND FRIENDSHIP, WE'VE ALSO DONE SOME GROUPS ON BUILDING RESILIENCE OF THE GIRLS EMPOWERMENT GROUP. I THINK IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS THAT WERE DOING ON A HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES WE ARE REALLY HELPING KIDS ACCESS SUPPORT THAT THEY NEED IN REDUCING THE STIGMA OF ACCESSING THE REPORTS. OUR GOAL IS ALWAYS TO PREVENT AN ACUTE MENTAL HEALTH EPISODE FOR A STUDENT IF WE CAN SO BY HAVING THE SERVICES AVAILABLE A PROMPT RESPONSE FOR OUR STUDENTS I THINK THAT IS ONE THING I'M REALLY PROUD OF THIS TEAM FOR DOING. >> NEXT SLIDE. THE REASON FOR OUR WALK-INS, FEELING STRESSED OR OVERWHELMED IS OUR TOP REASON, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION. I COULD BE WRONG, TO ME IF WE ARE CATCHING KIDS WHEN THEY ARE STRESSED AND OVERWHELMED THAT IS A GOOD SIGN BECAUSE MAYBE THEY'RE NOT DEALING WITH THIS ON THEIR OWN AND HAVING A MORE COMPLEX ISSUE AND IF YOU CAN DEAL WITH THINGS AND THE MOMENT EARLY ON I THINK MAYBE WE COULD PREVENT MYTH KIDS FROM DEVELOPING ANXIETY DISORDER OR DEPRESSION. THE REASON STUDENTS REQUESTED APPOINTMENT VERY SIMILAR FEELING ANXIOUS OR NERVOUS, SAD OR UNHAPPY, STRESSED AND OVERWHELMED THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH SOME OF THE LOCK-IN DATA. THIS YEAR WE PILOTED TWO SCREENERS FOR ALL OF HER STUDENTS WERE RECEIVING ONGOING INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AT THE HIGH SCHOOLS. THE GAD IS THE GENERAL ANXIETY DISORDER SCREENER. IT'S A SEVEN ITEM INSTRUMENT THAT MEASURES ANXIETY SYMPTOMS IN THE PHQ STANDS FOR PATIENT HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE A NINE ITEM SCALE THAT MEASURES DEPRESSION AND GENDER MONDAY ONLY HAD TO EXPLAIN THIS TO ME 64 TIMES BUT I THINK I EXPLAIN IT TO YOU ONCE AND YOU WILL GET IT. WHAT WE FOUND THERE WERE INCREASES IN MINIMAL ANXIETY AND MILD ANXIETY. THE GREEN IS A PRETREATMENT IN THE GRAY COLOR IS SUPPOSED, WHAT WE SAW WERE DECREASES THE MORE SEVERE SYMPTOMS SO WE SAW DECREASES IN MODERATE AND SEVERE ANXIETY WHICH WOULD THEN SAY WE ARE AT LEAST IMPROVING THE SYMPTOMS THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE EXPERIENCING. HE DEMONSTRATES I WROTE THE STANCE HE CAN UNDERSTAND IT. DEMONSTRATES A DECREASE IN SEVERITY. THEN WE HAD SIMILAR RESULTS WITH THE PHQ DEPRESSION WHERE YOU SEE MINIMAL DEPRESSION WE ARE SEEING LESS SEVERE AND MODERATE SEVERE DEPRESSION. THE NEXT SLIDE, LAST SPRING WE TOOK A MONTH AND WE SURVEYED OUR STUDENTS. THEY JUST WANTED TO KNOW AS THEY WERE COMING INTO THE WELLNESS CENTER FOR A VARIETY OF SERVICES IF THEY WERE HELPFUL IF THEY DIDN'T USE THE SERVICE AND IF THEY WERE HELPFUL AT ALL. OVERWHELMINGLY THE DATA WAS POSITIVE IN THE FEEDBACK FROM OUR STUDENTS WAS POSITIVE WHICH TO ME IS PROBABLY THE MOST MEANINGFUL INFORMATION I AM SHARING WITH YOU TONIGHT. LAST SPRING, THESE ARE ALL MY GOALS I SHARED WITH YOU AND I WANT TO GIVE YOU A QUICK UPDATE. THE FIRST GOAL CONTINUE TO COLLABORATE WITH THE SCHOOL COUNSELORS. MY TEAM WAS ALL CERTIFIED IN TRAUMA TRAINING OVER THE SUMMER, WE ARE WORKING AND HAVE OFFERED VOLUNTARY PRESENTATIONS FOR TEACHERS OVER THE SUMMER BUT WERE WORKING ON OUR INDUCTION TEAM TO REALLY START TEACHING MORE REFLECTIVE PRACTICES WE ARE ALSO WORKING ON THE SKILLS AND WE HAD JEN VOID TO COME OUT AND TEACH US JOURNALING ACTIVITIES AND WE CONTINUE TO GROW IN THE AREAS. TO GIVE US AN IDEA OF THE FREQUENCY OF THE SERVICES AND WHAT ARE SOME OF THE REASONS.
